Cheetah Pride Press!
Weekly Update February 24, 2023
Head Cheetah's Message
Families,
It was a short, but busy week, that ended with our much-loved Cheetah Pride assemblies. We celebrated our month of kindness and caring, danced with the cheetah, and had some fun with Minute-To-Win-It competitions. We also took a little time to review bus expectations. Please follow up with a conversation at home about what Taking Care of Others, Taking Care of Ourselves, and Taking Care of Things looks like when riding on the school bus.
As always, thank you for your partnership!
Joey and Andrea
Memorial Cheetahs in Action
Our Profile of a Graduate Principle this month is CARING. We are teaching, modeling and encouraging students to care for one another.
We Celebrated all the CARING that was shared in the building during the Month of February at our Cheetah Pride Assembly!
Celebrating Free School Meals
Mrs. Gibson's Preschoolers made a card and Mrs. Haydu's grade 3 students made a banner thanking the governor for reinstating free breakfast and lunches for all students in Connecticut.
Pawsitive Office Referral
A PAWsitive office referral is submitted when a staff member recognizes a student who is going above and beyond to exemplify one of our three school rules - taking care of others, taking care of self, & taking care of things.
Order Of The Cheetah
This week we celebrate Mr. Frost. Mr. Frost is a third grade teacher. He was nominated by a parent who appreciated him teaching, modeling and encouraging his students to complete random acts of kindness in school as well as at home. We are lucky to have Mr. Frost at Memorial spreading kindness!
Nurses Notes
Dear parents/guardians,
Please bring in a change of clothes as well as socks and shoes for your child to keep at school. Also, snowpants and snowboots are needed in order for them to play out in the snow. The nurse's office has very limited supply of spare clothing to donate. We would also appreciate any gently used donations of boys size 8 and up sweatpants/joggers and girls size 8 and up leggings.
Thank you for your assistance.
Nurse Katie and Miss Michelle

East Hampton Schools Offer Preschool Programs
The East Hampton Public School System is seeking three and four year old residents interested in preschool programs for the 2023-2024 school year. We are excited to offer two preschool programs this year, the Integrated preschool half day program and full day Smart Start program.
Memorial Elementary School’s preschool Integration Program will be held three times a week for three year old students and four times a week for four year old students. Due to limited spaces, selection for peer models will be determined through a lottery process. If selected, peer models demonstrating age appropriate skills will be assigned by age to either a three day or four day a week schedule (2.5 hours per day). Children must be potty trained and turn 3 prior to September 1, 2023 to be eligible.
Memorial Elementary School’s Smart Start Program will be held 5 full days per week (8:50am-2:50pm), following the East Hampton Public School calendar. Priority will be given to 4 year old children that meet income guidelines or have other factors for consideration. Other applicants, regardless of economic or risk factors will then be selected.
Parents interested in proceeding through the selection process must pick up an application/information packet at either Memorial Elementary School or the East Hampton Public Library. The completed Parent Interview Form, Immunization Form and a Proof of Residency must be returned to Jodi Blyler at Memorial School office no later than March 17, 2023. Once all three forms are returned, parents will be contacted, no later than March 24th, to schedule a time to bring their child for the screening and lottery/selection process.
