Buffalo Express

This week we focused on the importance of kindness and treating all individuals with kindness, dignity and respect. Students enjoyed the opportunity to dress differently than normal. Listed below are some important tidbits:

• Congratulations Alyssa Metcalf-We are thrilled to announce that Alyssa Metcalf is the elementary teacher of the year for the district. We are so incredibly proud of Mrs. Metcalf!

• Halloween Celebrations for Berryton - One of the changes we made last year was having students trick or treat in front of Berryton Elementary building wide. Our students loved this change so after much discussion with staff we will continue this new and exciting tradition and do this instead of doing classroom parties. Please note that we will do this on Tuesday, October 26 in the morning and I will share exact times that each class will be participating in next week's version of the Buffalo Express. We would love to have families join us in handing out pre-packaged treats to all students for this celebration. More details coming next week!

• Fire Prevention Week video-Check out the video created by the Shawnee Heights fire district staff. Maizey Thadani won our third grade fire prevention poster concert and rode to school on a firetruck on Tuesday morning.

• Calling Buffalo Families for Site Council-We would love to have families join our Site Council. Application is below.

As an elementary principal I enjoy working collaboratively with staff members to support student learning. I am passionate about continuing to learn professionally, and building relationships with staff and students at Berryton Elementary. When I'm not serving at Berryton Elementary I am usually with my husband and two sons. We can be found at sporting events, cheering on Kansas State University, or just enjoying a movie at home.
