Dear Parents / Carers,
Half term already! The last few weeks have flown by, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my first half term as acting headteacher of such a fantastic school community.
Earlier today, 60 children from years 4, 5 and 6 headed to Sheffield Arena for the Young Voices concert, where they will perform with thousands of other children this evening to a proud audience of friends and families. We have been busy practising the songs since September, and it is always a magical evening where the children get to be part of something very special. What a great way to finish the half term.
This week children spent time learning about how to stay safe online, as part of the work we have done on Internet Safety Day. This prompted lots of important discussions about how useful the internet can be when used safely, but also how it can negatively impact our physical and mental health if we are not sensible with our use of devices. If you would like more information on how to support your child to stay safe online, the following link contains advice for parents and carers: https://saferinternet.org.uk/blog/safer-internet-day-2024-free-advice-for-parents-and-carers
We have alot to look forward to after half term including bikeability for the Y6 children, forest school sessions for all classes, World Book Day and British Science Week.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Have a safe and restful half term.

Message from Head Pupils
Last week year 6 had their residence at Peat rigg in the North York Moors. We all really enjoyed ourselves; it was lots of fun. For the parents of the children who went, they will have no more excuses for making their beds as we had to make them every day and even put them together. We did a fantastic range of activities and even jumped in freezing cold rivers and lakes, not just once but twice. Today we have young voices, which is taking place at Sheffield arena. Children from years 4,5 and 6 are going and everyone is very excited. Have a nice half term and enjoy the break!!
Freddie & Ella
Well done to everyone who has been practising their maths at home this week. Year 2 should now be using TT Rockstars as well as Numbots, the username and password is the same for both.
Congratulations to our Rockstars of the Week, they are Emma E, Oliver G, Tilly B, Sophie P and Seb E. This week's Numbots Supertstars are Sonny L, Alfred H, Jaxon M and Jermaine D. Well done everyone, keep practising over half term.
Pre-loved Uniform
We have lots of pre-loved uniform in all ages so if you are need of anything, or could do with some spares, please call in to the office and we'll see if we can help.

Tadcaster Junior Hockey
Hockey season might be coming towards its conclusion, but here at Tadcaster we are trying to continue building our junior section. Junior training at Tadcaster Hockey Club will start on Wednesday 21st February 2024 at Tadcaster Grammar School from 6 until 7pm, which covers players from ages 5 up to 16, split by ages for training purposes.
We shall be running this session in two split blocks, 5 weeks prior to Easter, 2 weeks off for Easter, and then the final 5 week block after Easter. This session is once more charged at £30 per child for the 10 weeks. There is a £5 discount for siblings down to a minimum payment of £20, e.g. first child pays £30, second child pays £25, and any child thereafter pays £20.
Sticks can be provided, however we recommend hockey shin pads (football shin pads at a push, but hockey shin pads offer better protection for ankles), astroturf boots; note not studded football boots as these are not allowed on the pitch, although trainers may be sufficient, and a gum shield. Please ask for advice on purchases if you feel unsure before buying, better to ask and buy the correct thing than not and get the incorrect thing.
Club kit is not required for training and unlikely to be in the future. Games against other clubs will be different, and we may be looking to provide a kit on the day for such events, although we would be interested to hear if anyone knows of companies/people who would be interested in sponsoring our juniors to assist in the purchase of kit.
Please can you complete the Google Form https://forms.gle/e1JqKS9gbnTKmWLC8 to indicate your intention to send your child to Junior Training, even if you have already completed it before, as this allows us to track the progress of our Junior Section. The returns from these forms will be used for email distribution regarding future club events and for sending bank and payment details for the sessions once received.
