Chester Elementary School
November 28, 2022. A Year of Significance!
CES Happenings
We held an armed intruder drill today. Teachers spent time preparing student for this exercise. Please feel free to talk to your child about this. It's one of those topics that none of us want to think about, but that we must prepare for. Questions? Please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
On a final note: I'm happy to announce that we will have use of our new bathrooms starting December 5th. The portable bathrooms will go away soon thereafter. Also, we are on schedule to move into the new office spaces during the Christmas vacation.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
Sincerely,
Scott Cory
Principal

COVID Information
We have COVID tests available for the asking for our CES families. Please contact Mrs. Peterson to make a request (npeterson@pcoe.k12.ca.us / 258-3194 ext. 1201). Also, we have had inquiries about the PCOE/PUSD current COVID guidance. Please see the graphic below for details.
Construction progress continues!
CES is in the news! Mrs. Crowther's class made a point to invite a military veteran to speak to their class. Click here to read the article. The event was a great opportunity for our fourth-grade students to both show both honor and respect for our veterans.
We are hiring! CES has an amazing educational team. We have been very fortunate to hire some great staff recently, but we still have immediate openings for the following positions:
- Nurse/LVN (full time, Chester/Greenville)
- English Learner aide (2 hrs./day)
- Paraeducator/instructional aide (5 hrs./day)
If you or someone you know works well with kids and wants to make a difference in our community by serving in our schools, please let us know. For details, please contact Principal Scott Cory at scory@pcoe.k12.ca.us. Click here to see current job postings.
Spotlight: Jody Haver
Jody Haver, originally from San Diego, joined the Chester Elementary School team in 2020. Before working at CES, Jody worked primarily in the medical field as an insurance biller and as an EMT. She was drawn to work at CES because of her deep love that was born from volunteering in her own children's classrooms.
When asked what she loves about her position, Ms. Jody says, "Without a doubt, it is the kids! They keep me going everyday, I love their smiles!" Ms. Jody also enjoys seeing the progress that students make academically, emotionally, and socially. It is especially important to her to develop strong, trusting bonds with the students that she works with; Ms. Jody wants the CES kids to know she is there for them no matter what.
In her free time, Ms. Jody loves go to the woods for picnics and hunting. She loves fishing and everything and anything that is outdoors. Ms. Jody loves Thai food, the ocean, Dr. Seuss books, and her cat Muffin.
Spotlight: Alisha Moore
Alisha Moore, a native of Westwood, joined the CES team in 2022.
Ms. Alisha was inspired to become a member of the CES because she loves working with teachers and students. She delights in seeing her students help each other and be kind to one another. She treasures each student's uniqueness, their kindness, and laughter.
In her free time, Ms. Alisha loves spending time with her family and her one year old puppy. She enjoys the Great Outdoors as well as crafting, gardening, and baking. Her favorite food is her mother's lasagna and she has the goal of visiting each National Park in the USA to experience it's natural beauty and history.
