Veterans Day, No School Friday, Nov. 11
Schools and offices are closed in observance of Veterans Day next Friday, Nov. 11. Classes will resume Monday, Nov. 14.
Veteran's Day is a national holiday celebrating freedom, sacrifice, and honor for those who served in the military. It also is a day dedicated to giving thanks to people who served. May we never forget them and the sacrifices they made.
More Drivers Bringing Welcomed Bus Updates
Student Transportation of America has additional bus drivers who have completed their requirements. With more drivers come plans to increase the number of routes serving our schools to balance ridership and reduce travel times for students. We anticipate these welcome changes by the first of December.
As part of fine-tuning bus routes, for the next couple of weeks, we will be keeping track of riders at stops. If there are stops in which no students access the bus, that stop may be eliminated. This is no cause for concern. We are simply letting our families know that if you have plans to access transportation, now is the time to ride the bus to secure your preferred stop.
School Board Meeting

Regular Session 6:00 p.m.
Click here for the agenda posted on the district website
Hallinan Elementary School
The Lake Oswego School Board meetings are being held in person and are open to the public. In-person attendance is limited to those who occupy available seating first and observe meeting guidelines for conduct. Doors will open approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of the public session. All may observe the public session remotely by clicking here.
Board members take both written and in-person testimony. Click here for instructions for members of the public who wish to provide in-person testimony. Submit an email to the Board Secretary kelli.cranston@loswego.k12.or.us by 12 p.m. day of the meeting. IMPORTANT: Type “In-Person Testimony” in the subject line.
Winter is Coming: Inclement Weather Procedures
It's time for a reminder about our inclement weather procedures. If severe weather is forecasted, in most circumstances, the decision to cancel classes or start school 2-hours late will not be made the night before but will be made before 6:20 a.m. on the day of the weather event.
You will be notified via voice message, text, email, and push notification via LOSD mobile app, as well as an alert on the school websites and local news channels. If you are unsure of a notification, double-check multiple communication channels to verify its validity.
In the event of inclement weather, schools will remain in session if the majority of our students and staff members can travel safely. Because of the varied topography in Lake Oswego, hazardous conditions occasionally may exist in a limited area while roads in the remainder of the district are safe for travel. If parents believe conditions in their area make it unsafe for students to travel to school, LOSD will support their decision to keep their children at home.
Annual SASEE Awards: Call for Nominations
Last Call: Take the School Calendar Survey
Before we can finalize the 2023-2024 calendar we need to know our community’s preferences for the start and end dates of the year. We have a number of considerations when developing a school calendar. To weigh in, please take a minute to complete the student and family survey by Monday, Nov. 7. Thank you!

Bond Advisory Committee Members Needed
The Bond Accountability Committee (BAC) and Long Range Facility Planning (LRFP) Committee are seeking parents/guardians and community residents to serve on the volunteer advisory committees.
BAC is charged with monitoring the planning and progress of the district’s capital bond projects relative to voter-approved work scope, schedule, and budget objectives. The committee needs citizens with experience in building design, construction, and construction financing, law, contracting, budgeting, and/or auditing.
LRFP works with district staff to analyze facility needs and make recommendations to the School Board. The committee needs citizens interested in conducting community outreach to parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members and developing recommendations that inform the capital bond program approved by Lake Oswego voters.
Find more information on the capital bond program on the district and bond websites.
Please submit an application by November 11 if interested in serving on one of these two committees.

Lake Oswego City Council Study Session Regarding Street Maintenance Fee Increase
Whether you are walking, running, riding, or rolling, we want pathways, sidewalks, and roadways to be safe and accessible for all. To do so, the City Council is proposing to increase the Street Maintenance Fee to provide additional funding for pedestrian safety improvements. Funds could be used for projects like pathways, sidewalks, crosswalks, curb ramps, and bicycle lanes for safer access and connectivity to neighborhoods, schools, business districts, and recreation areas.
