Dear Thacher Families:
In good news, Phil saw his shadow so spring should be right around the corner. In bad news, meteorologists are predicting a stormy mid to late February. We'll see who's right!
We have MANY items in our lost and found. Anything still here by February break will be bagged up and donated. If your child(ren) is/are missing anything, have them swing by the table or feel free to swing in and see if it's in our lost and found. Photo of tables below (sorry for the format of the photos - one of the shortcomings of this platform).
Sincerely,
Frank W. Rich

Parents' Night Out!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Do you want a night out without kids, to get some well-deserved me time? Well you’re in luck! Attleboro High’s Student Council is holding Kids’ Night on February 10, from 5 to 9 pm! The only requirement is that your child is potty trained. Your kids are allowed to bring as many nut-free snacks that their hearts desire. If they have no snacks, that’s okay too! Kids will be served pizza, chips and water. Our prices are listed below:
1 child - $25
2 children - $45
3 children - $60
4 children - $70
A variety of activities will be provided for your child(ren), to ensure they have a fun time! We’ll have board games that are appropriate for all ages, as well as group games so they can play together. At the end, we will play a movie for the children, so if they want to, they can bring sleeping bags or blankets, in case they get sleepy during the movie!
We hope to see your kids there!

From the Music Room
Hello again to all of the wonderful Thacher families. Below are some updates from the music room over the course of the last few weeks.
Kindergarten and First Grade: Our little ones have been continuing to work on the singing voices, practicing songs and patterns and learning how to distinguish our different kinds of voices (whispering, speaking, singing, calling out). In addition, we’ve had great success with instruments like glockenspiels and tone bars. We are also beginning to learn new syllables for rhythm in first grade which will set us up for rhythmic reading in the coming term!
Second Grade: Second grade has continued working on the xylophone and metallophone skills. They have also begun to accompany themselves on the xylophone while singing–this past week we were even able to sing some music in two parts–a HUGE accomplishment in grade 2. Students have also worked on identifying form in music, recognizing when certain sections of music change into new sections.
Third and Fourth Grade: Our upper grades have continued learning lots of new recorder material. We have begun some testing which means students can earn belts depending on how far along they are in their recorder progress! Both grades have also been hard at work on their singing skills, with fourth grade preparing for their next concert (more details on that to follow early next week). Both groups have begun working on identifying tonic and dominant chords through solfege syllables (like do mi so, or so fa re ti). I am so proud of their hard work!
Insights Classrooms: Our insights classrooms have been working on musical and day-to-day skills during music instruction. Students have gotten to be pros at strumming on instruments like the guitar and ukulele and are getting to choose which instruments they play–many are excellently echoing short rhythmic or tonal patterns on instruments. Students also have a blast with our dances, where they learn to keep a steady beat in their bodies, identify specific body parts, and use movement to get a sense of form into their bodies. One of my favorite times of the week is singing time with our insights room–it is always a joy to hear full, excited singing from our students!
Keep on rocking and enjoy the pictures and video below.
Musically yours,

A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase
On March 14, 2024, from 6:00-7:30 PM, Attleboro Public Schools (APS) will host A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase. Now in the second year of this annual event, this evening is an opportunity for APS staff, students, families, and community organizations to come together as students throughout the district display their learning experiences and local community resources share information about their services and programs. The goal of this event is to bring all stakeholders from the community together to celebrate student successes and share resources. More information to come soon. We look forward to seeing you there!
Survey
Each year, students in grades 3-12 particpate in a survey as part of Attleboro's involvement in the Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment (MCIEA) which aims to help schools and the community measure school quality outside of simply relying on MCAS data. Our third and fourth grade students will be participating in this year's survey between now and February break. The survey takes approximately 15-30 minutes and is done during class. If you would like to see the results of previous surveys/questions, please visit the MCIEA School Quality Measures Dashboard.
