A message from the Principal
Dear MRE Families,
Based on the feedback we’ve received and in an effort to streamline the breakfast process and reduce waste we will be changing the way breakfast is distributed this week. Starting Tuesday, January 23rd, students in grades 2-5 who want breakfast will be able to make their selections in the cafeteria on their way to class upon arrival to school in the morning. This process will be similar to the way we distribute lunch, with students moving through the line in the cafeteria, selecting their breakfast, exiting the other side. Students will then bring their breakfast to their classroom and eat it there.
The process for Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Grade, and the FRIENDS program will not change. We will continue to deliver bins of breakfast items to the classrooms to be distributed by the teacher.
Just as before, all students will have the opportunity to get breakfast if they would like but they are not required to. Also, the breakfast items made available each day will vary based on what we receive through our student nutrition department.
Based on regulations associated with our breakfast program, breakfast items must be eaten at school on the day they are distributed and cannot be brought home.
All students are automatically enrolled in the program and will have access to breakfast each day. If you would prefer your child not participate in the breakfast program, you may opt them out by sending an email to your child’s teacher. You may opt your child out at any time.
As always, we will monitor to ensure student safety in regard to food allergies and other dietary restrictions.
Please contact the MRE office with any questions.
Warm regards,
Scott Blanchard
Principal

It's normal for students to occasionally forget items like their water bottle, library book, homework or like item. This is fine! We have solutions and it's a learning opportunity, fostering responsibility and problem-solving in a supportive setting. No need to fret over forgotten items!
