"Stay in the Loop" 16th Edition
Letter From the Principal
I cannot adequately express my gratitude to our A Night in Green Co-Chairs, Meghan Swails and Jennifer Harsh. Because of their passion for SPX and servants' hearts, we were able to hold an event that brought our community together in an effort to enhance the educational experiences of our students. These two remarkable ladies truly embody what it means to "go make a difference."
While nothing would be possible without Meghan and Jennifer's expert organization and leadership, I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you who donated items, served on the auction committee, volunteered before, during or after the event;,bid on packages, or attended the event. The evening was an absolute success, and it would not have been possible without your generosity and support!
The evening was filled with excitement and fun, as we enjoyed a delicious dinner, engaging bidding sessions, and lively dancing. It was wonderful to see so many of you come together to support our school and help us achieve our goals. Your generosity and commitment to our students are truly remarkable and I feel blessed to be a part of this extraordinary community!
Our goal for the auction was to raise funds that would go towards improving the educational experiences for our students, and I am pleased to report that we FAR exceeded our expectations. The proceeds from the auction will go a long way in supporting our academic programs, extracurricular activities, and overall school operations.
Your support is invaluable and we are privileged to have such a caring and committed community.
Thank you again for making our auction such a tremendous success. We are truly grateful for your commitment to providing the best possible education for our students.
Letter From Our "A Night in Green" Co-Chairs
The A Night In Green committee is thrilled to announce that last Saturday's 10th annual auction gala brought in a record $113,000 for our Preschool-8th grade students! None of this is possible without our donors, sponsors, bidders, and volunteers from our entire community. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Portions of this money are already being put to use. A little over $18,000 of the funds raised will go directly to our Fund-a-Need chair lift project which got its start today. Another $2200 will be put toward next year's 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip costs thanks to donations and ticket sales of our Wine Pull Raffle and our $100 per family, A Night In Green volunteer credit.
The next project will put $10k towards the purchase of a new set of iPads and a charging cart for the newly renovated Innovation Lab, or SPX iLab.
With the inclusion of the preschool in the auction this year, a portion of the revenue will be allocated to amazing projects for our preschool as well as K-8th homerooms.. Over the next few months, we will work with Mrs. Ruth at the K-8th "big school" and Mrs. Miller at the preschool to put other projects in motion to continue to build an even better educational environment for all our students.
Lastly, over the next few weeks the search will begin for A Night In Green's newest chairpersons. This would be an opportunity for anyone interested in steering the next few years of events to step forward, and the ability to shadow Jen Harsh and Meghan Swails for next year's event. If you are interested in sharing in some of the excitement of planning and executing St. Pius X School's largest fundraising effort, please reach out to us via email at anightingreen@yahoo.com.

Holy Week*
This Sunday, Palm Sunday, begins Holy Week. On Palm Sunday, we celebrate Jesus entering the town of Jerusalem to chants of Hosana, a warm welcome to the King of Kings! In one short week, Jesus will call his apostles to the vocation of priesthood, share the first mass, and institute the sacrament of the Eucharist. Ending this holiest of weeks, Jesus commits his greatest act of sacrifice, truly becoming the Sacrificial Lamb.
Holy Week is a solemn, penitential week. We are called to remember our sins, to unite our sacrifice with the perfect determination of Christ. With Christ, we can redeem our uncomfortability, vices, and shortcomings when we offer them up. But as Pope St. John Paul II exhorts us "We do not pretend that life is all beauty. We are aware of darkness and sin, of poverty and pain. But we know Jesus has conquered sin and passed through his own pain to the glory of the Resurrection. And we live in the light of his Paschal Mystery - the mystery of his Death and Resurrection. We are an Easter People and Alleluia is our song!”

Damascus
Last week, the 7th grade class spent Wenesday, Thursday, and Friday at Damascus Catholic Mission Campus. They spent time their time completing cooperative initiatives designed to develop their strengths, overcome their weaknesses, and grow in virtue, compassion, and communication. They also spent time in prayer will discover how following Jesus helps them to become the leader that God the Father has called them to be. We are so glad the 7th graders had this time together and we're grateful to Mr. Kehres, Mrs. Schwab, Mrs. Maloney, Mrs. Berger, and Mrs. Silone for chaperoning!
Panthers Make a Difference
In Mrs. Angle's kindergarten classroom, they had a student who wanted to do something "extra" for Lent, as opposed to giving something up during this time. Corbin decided he wanted to collect cans, turn them into money, and donate the money to Children's hospital. They talked about what he wanted to do in the classroom and the kids really signed on to help, taking this on as a group project. They have had numerous families send in cans for Corbin, who, with his mom, take the cans and converts them for money. Corbin sends in the money so that then the class can practice their addition skills! Today they added up what they have collected thus far for Children's Hospital, totaling $105! The students truly show a giving heart, as they know there is nothing waiting for them in the end, so no prize, no praise or glory, but truly doing it to help the kids at the hospital. We are so proud of our Kindergarten Bears for making a difference!
SPX Teachers Make Learning Irresistible!
Our kindergarten classes enjoyed their field trip to the Franklin Park Conservatory to visit the butterfly exhibit last week!
Our 6th graders enjoyed their field trip to the Wexner Center of the Arts. They viewed three galleries of artists who use art as a tool for empowerment to demonstrate the cultural significance of land and water.
Our 2nd graders enjoyed learning to tell time with hula hoops!
