Principal's Message:
Thank you for taking a few minutes to read this month’s update and for ALL you do to support your children and our school! Our staff values our partnership!
I am very excited that this week starts the 1st week of Black History Month. A wise man, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., once said, “We are not makers of history. We are made by history.” During this month, we plan to celebrate those individuals that paved the foundation for us to continue to build on. I want to encourage our young Roadrunner scholars that their voices and words have power and when put to positive use can bring significant change.
Covid safety. With the rise of the Omicron variant, January has been a hard month for Larsen and for schools across the country. Earlier this month, Omicron hit HESD hard as well. We have kept you updated when a person has tested positive in your student's classroom and will continue to do so.
I am happy to report that things have greatly improved. Student attendance is rebounding and our staff has been doing an incredible job teaching all students in-person as well as those out on quarantine by way of short-term Independent Study.
While there has been a great improvement, we will continue to take every precaution. Testing remains available to all students and staff from 10:00-3:45 each Tuesday and Thursday at Haycox School and on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at Blackstock School. Use the Larsen registration link below. No appointments will be necessary after you complete the initial registration process.
Wishing you a great month ahead!
Sincerely,
Marisol Guillen
Principal
