Fall Sports
Dear Methacton Families and Community,
Ticket reminders for fans and spectators: Methacton Athletics only sells tickets for the following sports: Varsity Football in the fall & JV/Varsity basketball and wrestling in the winter.
All other sports contests at Methacton are free to attend and enjoy.
We will be celebrating 2 senior nights this week for both girls and boys soccer! Come out and support the girls soccer team tonight (Tues 9/26) as they honor their 5 seniors and the boys soccer team tomorrow night (Wed 9/27) as they honor their 14 seniors!!

Off Season Sports Announcements
Baseball: Attention all interested baseball players grades nine through twelve. The entire fall and winter schedule can be found on our Methacton Baseball Twitter account or by going to methactonwarriors.org and clicking on Varsity Baseball and the links tab. Please see Dr. Spiewak in the East Wing office with any questions.
Softball: The softball team will be holding workouts on the varsity softball field on Tuesdays & Thursdays for the month of September: 9/19, 9/21, 9/26, 9/28 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. Any high school girls who are interested may attend.

Cheerleading
The Methacton Varsity Cheerleaders had a blast cheering at Norristown this Friday! Energy was high and the football team did not disappoint against our neighboring Eagles. Congratulations to them on their win! We're looking forward to traveling to PV for the Battle Ax game this week! Let's go Warriors!

Boys Cross Country
The boys' cross-country team competed in Hershey at the PIAA Foundation Invitational against some of the best teams in the state. The team finished 13th out of 41 teams and had a great race in horrible conditions.

Girls Cross Country
The Girls' X-C team travelled to Boyertown, on Tuesday, for a PAC League Meet and were defeated 26-32. Sr Molly Thomas lead the Team again finishing 1st for Methacton and 2nd overall. Racing to Her fastest time of the season was Jr Maggie Mead enabling Her to achieve Her best finish (5th) on the Team.
The Varsity (only) raced against some of the best runners in the state, on Saturday, at the PIAA Foundation Race at Hershey. The Team finished 36th of 42 Teams and Sr Molly Thomas raced very well to finish 18th overall and be a medal winner.
The Team races against Spring-Ford on Tuesday and ends the week at the Carlisle Invitational on Saturday.

Field Hockey
This past week was a long one for the field hockey team with the JV team playing two games and the Varsity taking on four opponents. JV came out on top of both of their games; beating Pottstown 9-0 and Boyertown 4-0. They are definitely hitting their stride as they enter the second half of their season.
The Varsity team went 2-2 on the week. They started out with a 16-0 win against Pottstown followed by a tough fought 2-1 loss against Boyertown on Wednesday. On Friday and Saturday, the team participated in the MAX Invitational Field Hockey Tournament at The Proving Grounds in Conshohocken. This competitive tournament invites top teams from around the country to compete against each other. After a back-and-forth game on Friday night under the lights, the team lost to the 2022 Illinois state champions, New Tier High School, 2 goals to 1. Saturday evening, the team showed up to play, bringing home a 4-2 win against Phillipsburg High School from New Jersey.
This week the team faces another three-game week. They play Perk Valley away on Wednesday evening and then home on Friday afternoon. Saturday, the team travels out to Berks County to take on Oley Valley.

Football
The Warrior Football Team traveled to Norristown for its first league game. The Warriors played a tough hard hitting game and took advantage of several key plays. Chad Cummings had 2 interceptions and DJ Balinger returned an interception for a touchdown. Special Teams played well, scoring on a blocked punt. Nick Remish continued to pin opponents deep and in bad field position with several booming punts. Ben Grove stepped in at running back, performed well while scoring a TD. The final score of 26-7 allows the Warriors to move to 4-1 and will travel to Perk Valley in the traditional Battle Axe Game this Friday.

Boys Golf
The Boys Golf Team finished off their regular season with a 2-1 record. Recording a big win at home against Boyertown and another conference win against Phoenixville. The team then traveled to Perk Valley and faced their toughest competition of the season, losing to a talented PV team 190-213.
The team finishes the regular season at 5-5. Four of the teams five losses were by a combined 12 strokes. Eight members of the Varsity team will travel to Turtle Creek Golf Course on Tuesday 9/26 to participate in the PAC Individual golf tournament in an attempt to qualify for the District One Tournament. Girls Golf
The Girls’ Golf lost their only match last week. It was the 5th match this season that the team lost by 5 strokes or less. The girls are continuing to practice in preparation for the year-end PAC Tournament. The four student-athletes that qualified for the PAC Tournament are Kate Thomas (12), Julia Sala (12), Shivani Joshi (12), and Lauren Springman (9). The PAC Tournament is on Wednesday, September 27th and is the qualifier for the District I Tournament.

Boys Soccer
The Boys Varsity Soccer team finally broke into the win column on Monday with a strong win over an undermanned Pottstown team. Man of the Match honors to Riel Jacobson who had 2 goals in the effort.
They then traveled to Boyertown and played very well but just couldn't convert their opportunities and after surrendering an early PK, fell 0-2. Man of the Match honors for this one go to Ethan Kumar who had an excellent match in the midfield.
They then travelled to PV for a wet and windy match on Saturday morning. After losing a couple key players early (injuries) the Warriors battled but ultimately fell to the undefeated PV squad 0-4. Man of the Match honors to Jason Lugo-Munoz for his emergency fill in work in the net.
This coming week bring several good matches including the team's Senior night on Wednesday evening where we get to honor the 14 seniors on the squad.

Girls Soccer
Methacton girls soccer won 2 of their 3 games last week.
On Monday, the girls defeated Pottstown by a score of 7-1. Aubrey Beaugard had a hat trick, while Kendall Ricca, Maddy Washburn, Mia Chan, and Sage Bowman each had a goal and an assist. Marlie Klein, Abby Masotta, and Alyssa Lineen each added assists in the victory.
Tuesday the Warriors faced rival Boyertown, and won 3-1, overcoming a 1-0 deficit to score 3 unanswered goals. Kendall Ricca, from a Maddy Washburn assist, evened the score late in the first half, while Aubrey Beaugard tallied twice in the second half. Aubrey’s first came directly from her own corner kick, unassisted, while her second goal was on a right-footed blast from 20 yards out, from a Mia Chan assist, with 1:22 remaining in the game. Freshman Anna Qawasmy made six saves to help secure the victory.
The girls soccer team will be celebrating their senior night on Tuesday, 9/26 at 6:00pm. They will also be hosting another “Friday Night Lights” game, against conference foe Owen J Roberts at 7pm.

Girls Tennis
Girls tennis had a big week with more league matches and the PAC singles championship tournament. The Warriors started off the week with a 7-0 win over Pottsgrove and then had a very competitive but unfortunate 2-5 loss to the Springford Rams. Seniors Hana Nouaime, Lauren Montgomery and junior Anika Suresh represented the Warriors in the PAC singles tournament and all 3 advanced to the quarterfinal and had several wins against players from Springford, Boyertown, Upper Merion, Upper Perk, Perk Valley and Owen J. Roberts. Congrats to our very own Hana Nouaime for winning the tournament to become the 2023 PAC Singles Champion. Anika Suresh also qualified for the district tournament taking place next week.

Volleyball
Last week saw the volleyball team in action three times in conference play. Monday we lost a hard fought match to Spring Ford 3-2. It was a back and forth match but Spring Ford ultimately came away with the victory with a 16-14 win in the 5th set. Wednesday the Warriors were back at home against Upper Merion. Last season Upper Merion ended the Warriors' season in the District playoffs in a 5 set heart breaker. This season the Warriors were victorious in 5 sets! The match was back and forth with both teams trading wins in sets 1-4. We came away with a great win in set five 15-6 to take the win! Friday was our last PAC match of the week against Boyertown which Methacton won 3-1.
This week the volleyball team has PAC matches against OJR, PV and Pottsgrove and will finish the week on Saturday in a tri-match at home against Conestoga and Great Valley.
