There is a term used to describe the phenomenon of people being influenced to adopt the behavior around them; it's called "herd mentality."

But you can stand apart from the crowd with your unique and valuable voice. Be the one who sets the tone and determines the direction of those around you. Help steer others in a positive direction. If you find yourself caught up in a chorus of negativity, break away. It's up to you to gather the influences you want to affect you and your loved ones. Set a positive tone and help everyone achieve a better outcome.

Groups NOT associated with CPA claim they are streaming our athletic events, and they collect credit card information to exploit fans. The basketball season is underway at CPA, but we are not livestreaming any games or competitions. Please do not give your credit card information to these groups. Mark your calendars! CPA's School Picture Day has been rescheduled for Thursday December 9. All students will have their pictures taken so they can appear in our yearbook.

If you wish to purchase pictures from Lifetouch, please fill out the order form that was sent home or visit mylifetouch.com and enter the Picture Day ID EVT8D2DFG. If you are paying with cash you must send the exact amount--CPA will not have change.

Students may dress up for their individual picture. Uniforms are not required. Please review the Free Dress Day guidelines listed below:

Free Dress Days:

Students must wear clothing that is representative of the philosophy of Community of Peace Academy. Clothing, such as shirts or pants that feature pictures, phrases, or statements, must represent or promote peace, as well as a non-violent/healthy lifestyle.

All items of clothing must fit appropriately

1. Spaghetti straps, off-the-shoulder tops, halter or strapless dresses, or tops that show cleavage are not allowed.
2. Skirts and/or shorts must be in length from the waistline to the knees.
3. Clothing items that are transparent or sheer must have clothing worn under that meets the above criteria.

If it is ever a question as to whether or not you may be out of uniform or whether or not your choice of dress is appropriate, please contact the administration.

Picture ReTake Day has been scheduled for Thursday January 20.

This year, CPA will be holding three winter concerts throughout the day on Wednesday December 15, featuring different grade levels at each performance. Rather than have a live audience, the concerts will be recorded and the videos will be shared with the CPA community. Stay tuned!

Minnesota has launched ‘Kids Deserve a Shot,’ a vaccine incentives program rewarding Minnesotans 12-17 years old for completing their COVID-19 vaccine series.

All Minnesotans 12-17 years old who have completed their COVID-19 vaccine series at any time in 2021 can enter to win a $100,000 Minnesota College Scholarship! The State of Minnesota will hold five drawings of $100,000 for five students to attend any public or private non-profit educational institution in the state of Minnesota.

Parents or guardians must enter their 12-17 year old by the entry deadline to be eligible for the following drawing(s). Entry deadlines for upcoming drawings: Dec 6 & Dec 13.

The spring play for this year is Shrek the Musical, Jr! Auditions will be held after school on Tuesday December 14 in Ms. Emily's music classroom. Interested students should sign up across from the high school office. Only people who are auditioning may attend the auditions. After students sign up, they will receive information about how to prepare for auditions. Those who cannot stay after to audition should connect with Ms. Emily or Ms. Fischer asap to set up an alternate audition time.

The majority of rehearsals will take place during the school day. All cast members will be required to take the period 7 drama elective class semester 2. Students or parents who have questions can contact Ms. Emily or Ms. Fischer.

CPA's Academy Choir is performing at Holidazzle in Loring Park in Minneapolis on Friday December 17 at 5:45pm. Join us for a fun perforance of seasonal carols, and stay for the other exciting winter activities Holidazzle has to offer!

Holidazzle is free to attend, and all are encouraged to come and cheer on the Academy Choir!

Thank you for supporting CPA's COVID 19 mitigation efforts. To help keep our Covid cases down as we move forward please be sure to:

1) Keep your child home if they are not feeling well.

2) Have your child tested if they display symptoms of Covid.

3) Notify the school if your child or anyone living in your home tests positive for Covid.

4) Notify the school if your child has been exposed to Covid and therefore needs to quarantine.

Keep your student at home and have them tested for Covid if they show any of the following:

Fever of 100.4 or greater, Cough, Shortness of Breath, or Loss of Taste or Smell

Or if they show 2 or more of these symptoms:

Sore throat, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Chills, Muscle Pain, Bad headache, Extreme fatigue, Nasal Congestion or Runny Nose.

CPA families, the COVID 19 Vaccine has been approved for ages 5-11. CPA will be hosting several free COVID 19 Vaccine Clinic for ages 5+, and you and your family are encouraged to attend. Below is a list of upcoming COVID 19 Vaccine Clinics at CPA that will be open to age 5 and older:

• Monday, December 13, 3:30-6pm

• Monday, January 3, 3:30-6pm

The COVID 19 Vaccine is free, and these clinics are open to the public. Pfizer and Moderna boosters are also available for those who are eligible. Participants should enter CPA through Door A on Magnolia and wear a mask.

As we know, Minnesota weather can change quickly, and this time of year we see drastic swings in temperature and other weather issues. Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing to be comfortable and safe throughout the day, including at arrival, recess, and dismissal. Thank you!

Meal boxes are available for any student who must miss in-person instruction due to COVID quarantine. Each meal box contains five breakfasts and five lunches. Families must pre-register to pick up meal boxes. Click here to learn more!
