Bounce House Waiver
Occasionally, CMIT North Elementary may host an event in which a bounce house is scheduled to be on the premises as a fun activity for our scholars. In order for your scholar(s) to participate we ask that you fill out the attached CMIT North Elementary Bounce House Waiver Google form as soon as possible. While having the forms filled out ahead of time will allow for proper planning, notifications will go out when a bounce house is scheduled to be on the premises for an event.
We will keep the forms on file for the 2023-2024 school year. Please fill out a separate form for multiple students. In the event you need to make a change please fill out the form again.

Attendance
Please note we have implemented a Google form for submission of absences/late arrivals and notes. This form is the only acceptable method of communication and must be utilized for reporting absences/late arrivals and uploading doctor/medical notes ONLY for your student(s). With the exception of COVID reporting in which an email in addition to the absence form must be sent to Nurse Ann, Dr. Fryson and Mrs. Virgil.

ABSENT NOTE SUBMISSION: Please complete this form within three (3) days once your child returns to instruction. Terrific Third Grade News!
In Social Studies, students will begin Chapter 3: Lesson 3 Early Spanish Communities.
In Math, we are finishing up our topic on calculating the area of shapes. The extra credit assignment for the test should be sent out at the beginning of the week.
In Science, scholars are jumping back into our unit on weather and the water cycle. Also make sure scholars are starting early on their STEAM Fair Projects!
Weekly News!
Next week in Reading, students will continue analyzing plot and setting in a fiction text. In Social Studies, we will be discussing what makes the United States government so special. In Math, students will begin Topic 6, using operations with whole numbers to solve problems. In Science, students will discuss how people extract and use natural resources.
Please check SchoolMax weekly to stay abreast of your scholar's progress in their classes. Grades are updated weekly and this is a great conversation starter with your scholar on what is going well and what needs to be improved to continue to have a successful year.

Tigers! Tigers! We have arrived at the Thanksgiving break! Great job with persevering this week and being the best Tiger you can be! Thank you for all of your hard work! You are truly appreciated!
We will continue with the subject content which is as follows:
RELA
Students will continue in Unit 2 Week 2 and learn the reading skills of "monitoring comprehension" and "analyzing text structures." We will delve into the text "A Place for Frogs" which is an informational text. Students will also learn the word study of final syllables and rehearse the word study skill of open and closed syllables.
Social Studies
Students will be reading and writing about The English Colonies in Virginia.
Math
This week in math, students will use models and strategies to find the quotients of whole numbers.
Science
Students will continue to develop an understanding of cause-and-effect relationships as they explore how Earth's systems support the existence of life.

Greetings,
Tigers will be finishing up projects with artist statements, taking their preliminary sketches to final renderings with craftsmanship as a priority. We will also increase reviews and discussions to practice reflection activities. Necessary materials include sketchbooks/paper, pencils, and colored pencils or crayons.

Keyboarding:Upper Row
The learners will receive direct instruction and practice with the basic keyboarding techniques needed to type using the upper row keys. The learners will gain knowledge about proper finger placement and posture, and are provided a review of the home row keys in this engaging and interactive digital lesson.

Good week, students are currently reviewing class procedures and we are reiterating our fundamentals in order to maximize class time!
STEM I

Greetings,
This week, Kinder scholars are drawing for our dog house that will keep a dog cool on a sunny day. First grade scholars are continuing our new unit exploring the weather. Second grade scholars are beginning to construct the bridges for the scenarios that their group was given. Third grade scholars are continuing to design and build their pinball machines. Fourth grade scholars are brainstorming and designing their new car safety feature. Fifth grade scholars are using what they learned about matter to help them develop two formulas for their stepping stone.
