Welcome to another Technology Demonstrators newsletter. The first part shares artefacts from the April 21 TD CoP session. This is followed by updates, news, resources and opportunities.

Connectivism, PLNs and Collaborativism
Our CoP session started with exploration of key theoretical underpinnings for Technology Demonstrators and how these are disrupting the traditional academic development approach. In the VIDEO Julie shares ideas and influences around Connectivism, PLNs and Collaborativism and encourages discussion.
What's on your radar?

Teams and OneNote
In this VIDEO Vanessa shares her use of and experience with MS Teams and OneNote. She makes key distinctions between these two MS tools and reviews key features and typical uses.

There is much excitement around the Engageli learning environment pilot led by TechDems and its ability to support the USQ Academic Plan learning and teaching objectives for HyFlex synchronous and asynchronous approaches.
On May 17, 10-11am, a university-wide session will be held in Engageli that will showcase how we are using this tool across disciplines for student and staff engagement.
By attending this session you will be able to:

Explore the synchronous affordances of Engageli in a class-like scenario - full room, table conversations, interactive elements

Interact with USQ Engageli champions and learn how this tool is being used in courses to engage students

Discover additional features of Engageli such as interactive learning, multimedia sharing, asynchronous playback, and data collection and analytic capabilities

Interact with Engageli representatives for further understanding of where this tool is and plans for future development

Student Engagement SIG - Student Panel
Katrina shares feedback from the recent SIG where students from a range of disciplines shared their views and experiences around online learning at USQ.

International collaboration and the four ‘pillars’ that influence and shape online learning at USQ
In this conversation Julie documents the recent international workshop with a partner university in Malaysia. Artefacts shared revolve around the essential USQ toolkit: Tools, Pedagogy, Evaluation and Research.

Aesthetics vs Pragmatics
For something more cognitively challenging, Katrina refers to a recent doctoral thesis and poses questions around usability and visual aesthetics in online learning design.
