Holy Cross Catholic School
From the desk of Mrs. Wagner
January 27, 2023
At the end of the school day, I will ask students, "How was your day? What did you learn?". The typical response is "Good!" and they run out the door. I was caught off guard this week when one of the student's responded "A-MAZ-ING!" I said, "That's awesome! What made it amazing?" and the student went on to tell me they made commercials in our broadcasting center.
My heart was so full in this moment! One of the best parts of being an educator is making learning fun for kids. It is when I personally learned the most and I am confident that this is when the best learning happens for our students. It was confirmation that all our hard work is truly for the success of the children. Our students love being at school and when they are leaving the building with a sense of wonder and amazement, then we know we are doing our job.
Today in Mass we sang "City of God" and the lyrics state "Let us build a City of God" and it was touching, because that is exactly what we are doing together at Holy Cross. Thank you to everyone that makes Holy Cross so special. On Sunday, we get to show off all the school's wonderful attributes with new families. Please consider signing up to help with tours so we can spread the good news of Holy Cross.
This Sunday, January 29, is the kick off for Catholic Schools Week. We start the celebration of our Catholic School community at the Sunday Masses. If the students wear their liturgy uniform to the 8:30am, 10:30am or 12:30pm Masses, they will receive an out of uniform pass. Also, don't forget to help sell raffle tickets! The student who sells the most gets to be Principal for a Day!
As part of our service during CSW, we are asking students to bring all sizes of socks for a Toasty Toes Sock Drive.
We have a lot to celebrate this week! Please refer to the flyer for all the out of uniform days! Thank you for all you do and choosing Holy Cross for your child's spiritual and academic development! We are so blessed to work with them each day!
Open House Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers this Sunday during our Open House to offer tours to future Hornet families. We will provide talking points to all volunteers prior to Sunday so that you feel comfortable with the information. We hope you will add your own personal experiences as you walk around. This year we would also love to offer student lead tours. We will give service hours to middle schoolers that would feel comfortable telling their version of being a Hornet while they show families around the building. Please reach out with any questions!

We need help with ticket sales after Mass. Please click the link below to sign up. Make sure you scroll down to find the next available dates.
