Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Christmas at CTS
Year 9 Student Maisie
Year 7 Katie
Year 7 student Katie was recently awarded 2nd place in a junior handling class. She also managed 2 VHC (very highly commended, equal to 5 place) with Koko, these were large groups so this was an amazing achievement for Katie. Pictured below is Katie with Koko, Tatty (with the black nose) who is Koko's mum and Puck who is Koko's litter sister.

Year 7 Jorja
Year 7 student Jorja has received a silver medal for her effort at Thai boxing at the Spirit of Siam Fight Academy. Well done Jorja!

Miss Kaur and Mrs Sahota would like to say well done to Jessica R (7ST) who has been reading lots of books from the library and has passed 2 million words. Jessica also took out a book to help her draw and has drawn some beautiful pictures. Well done and keep reading!

Maths:
Mrs Wynn would like to say well done to 10A3 for a great term of hard work and commitment to their studies.
Mr Horne has nominated Year 9 student Hollie for excellent work factorising expressions and Year 8 student Evie for consistent hard work over the term.
Drama:
Mrs Hallybone would like to say a huge well done to all Year 10 and 11 Drama students who completed devising mocks this weeks. She was very impressed by everyone’s preparation, focus and confidence.
Mrs Hallybone would also like to thank everybody from the Drama Club who performed in the showcase - you all demonstrated excellent commitment and Mrs Hallybone was particularly impressed by how professional you were in the dress rehearsal and back-stage.
Humanities:
Miss Gilbert has made the following nominations this week:
Well done to 7CU and 9CA for completing all tasks in Geography and History with the greatest effort and making sure that you are all getting the most out of lessons. A special shoutout to Harvey, Morgan, Amber and Kerreyn (7CU) and Nadia, Harry, Scarlett and Kacper (9CA) for their hard work.
Well done to 8TU firstly as their tutor for gaining many positive points throughout the term and working hard until the end of the term. In Geography and History, Veronica, Karina, Miller and Jasmine have been working especially hard. Enjoy the break!
Well done to everyone in 10C, you made it through two difficult topics this term of coasts and rivers, with many definitions and diagrams needed. A special shoutout to Seth, Courtney Osbourne, Yunus, Alicia, Falun, Corina and Leena.
Mr Hallas would like to nominate 9TE for their meticulous green pen use in class. It is always wonderful to see students taking ownership of their learning and reflecting on how to improve their answers.
Mr Strumpher has nominated 11C Geography for their hard work in class for this term. They really worked hard in their lessons and tried their best always.

Year 7:
Miss Patrick has enjoyed helping Year 7’s to learn a number of different samba rhythms on the incredibly loud samba instruments this week! Special mentions to Lucas, Sophia, Harry and Olivia from 7SI for their brilliant enthusiasm for performance, whichever part they were playing, they gave it 100% - well done!
Year 8:
This week 8TA created their own call and response Djembe pieces in groups. Miss Patrick was impressed with the way that all groups had challenged themselves to use more complex rhythms. A special mention to Aliyah, Dominik, Billie, Ruby and Tymoteusz for taking on the demanding role of Djembe Fola (leader).
Year 9:
Year 9 have composed a short piece of music inspired by ‘Music for Pieces of Wood’ by minimalist composer Steve Reich using just a pair of drumsticks. Miss Patrick was impressed with the way 9TA responded to the brief and each group were able to perform at the end of the lesson. A special mention to Antoni, Cole, Rhys, Dominik and Thomas who had thought very carefully about how they sequenced their individual parts to create a purposeful final piece – excellent work!
Sixth Form:
Mr Hallas would like to nominate Year 12 for their dedication and commitment they have shown towards the Enrichment and Personal Development programme. Over the last 6 weeks the following activities have taken place every Monday afternoon, allowing Year 12 to not only develop their own skill set, but also that of the younger students at CTS.
- KS3 PE support - Liam, Brady, Eoin, Sean and Ashley.
- Learning a new language - Dominik, Dragos, Lukas and Myles.
- KS3 reading mentor - Arnas, Josh, Lucas, Luca, Kumo, Wojciech, Liam, Brady, Eoin, Sean and Ryan.
- Planning a running a Term 3 cocurricular club - Sacro and Kumo.
- Writing the Sixth Form newsletter - Ashton.
- KS3 Maths support - Arnas, Josh, Dragos, Jermaine, Lukas and Wojciech.
- KS3 Music support - Dominik and Ryan.
- Library Internship - Joshua, Sacro, Jermaine and Ewan.
- Work experience - Drew and Ana.
- KS3 DT support - Ashley.
- Creating an art portfolio - Carmen.
- Extended Project Qualification - Bradley, Carmen, Lacy, Ewan and Daniils.
- KS3 Science support - Lucas and Lacy.
DT:
Miss Bowman would like to nominate year 8 students for their successful outcomes to their Scene in a Box project. The students took great pride in their work and they all linked well to their original designs. Pictured above are creations by Olivia (8SW) and Ayren (8CO).
English:
Mrs Brown has nominated Year 11 students Oscar S and Kyzer who have completed some great homework for Romeo and Juliet and Poetry revision. Also, thank you to all Year 10 and Yearr11 English and Media groups this term. Mrs Brown has loved teaching you!
Well done to Year 12 English for great work building essays and including excellent contextual detail for The Handmaid's Tale.
