Please see the link here for a nice story about our boys' basketball team. Boys' and girls' basketball teams are doing well. I'll be sharing more very soon.
Sports Update
It has been great to see our kids in the building for the afternoon sports practices and games. The coaching staff and kids have done a good job keeping up the safety protocols. In particular it was rewarding to see Senior Night for boys' and girls' basketball happening lately. We have been continuously brainstorming ways to be able to offer as many of those momentous occasions as possible to our seniors. A big thanks goes out to the coaches for being able to make that happen.
Mrs. Mott has been able to coordinate with staff to have someone available to stream the games. Additionally, the streaming links for other schools have been made available to families as well, so even with the restrictions for spectators families have been able to watch their athletes.
I am very happy to see our athletes get a chance to play, and I'll be sharing some pictures through this newsletter very soon.

Mood swings:
I'm sure you have seen your teen have unpredictable or intense mood swings. Here are some ideas on how to respond appropriately.
- Validate your teen's emotions
- Encourage the teen to talk about their feelings
- Avoid giving advice or minimizing their problems. Let the feelings subside before offering solutions. Examples: "This can be very hard!! I find myself needing to work on this. I just want to fix it."
- Be honest when you are stressed and emotional, let your teen know you struggle, too.
- At times, your teen may not be ready to talk, be patient.
- Continue to expect and require appropriate behavior. They are allowed to feel upset or sad but they should not be allowed to treat others with disrespect.
Food Truck Update
The Ovid Food Truck events have been happening at the school near the bus garage for several months. February was a rough month for the events with both dates being cancelled due to road conditions.
March food truck dates will be March 2nd, March 16th and March 30. As always, thank you for your support.
