Weekly Update 8.7.23
From The Principal...
It's been a great first three days of school! The students have done a fantastic job of taking pride and leading our school to greater things. Thank you to all the parents who were present at Open House. We appreciate your support and interest in what your child will be doing while at SCMHS. While I am humbled to have the opportunity to lead such a wonderful school and indirectly this wonderful community, our teachers feel the same way. Thank you for allowing your child to attend this school and thank you for trusting us to educate your child. We love it and we appreciate working with you - it takes a Tribe!
This upcoming week we will begin MAP testing. This growth measurement is to find out where our students are academically, and it gives us insight into what areas we can improve on with each child. Our goal is to see growth from every single student as they will take the MAP Growth Measurement in December and again in April. The evidence based growth from the MAP assessment directly relates to the growth your child will demonstrate on the EOG and/or EOC exams. Our school is rising to the top in all four areas (Math, English Science, and Social Studies), and MAP is a very helpful tool for all of us to gauge our progress.
Parents and students - Please fill out your Final Forms this weekend. We are running out of time for everyone to have these completed.
Parents, please get involved in your child's education, if you haven't done so because soon they will be out on their own and your positive influence can inspire them to greater things. You, as a parent, also get out of this experience what you put into it. I hope you make this a great year!

New Direction For The Green Machine
The SCMHS Marching Band will be under the leadership of a new band director, Chelsea Willis. Chelsea played in the Marching Band at Arkansas State University where she recently graduated.
Already, Ms. Willis has raised the bar of expectations for her students as they are required to practice throughout the summer and send in their videos each week to show improvements. She wants the band to go to competitions and she wants them to grow in numbers. We look forward to seeing what the prideful Green Machine will produce, and how they will grow over the upcoming years.
