We had a successful first few days at LVMS!

As a reminder, please don't forget to report student absences, tardies, early pick ups, or walkers through PickUp Patrol.

All pick ups / walkers must be submitted by 2:00 PM (you will receive a confirmation email once submitted). If not submitted, students will be required to take the bus home. Parent calls will not be accepted.

The entire district will continue to utilize PickUp Patrol this school year! The goal of the program is to assist with our student attendance and reporting safety mechanisms, as well as make this process more convenient for parents to use through a user-friendly mobile app.

All LVMS families should log into their PickUp Patrol account to verify pick up / drop of plans. Any new families will receive an email directly from PickUp Patrol with account information. LVMS will utilize PickUp Patrol in the following ways:

• Reporting Student Absence from school (sick, doctors appointment, etc.)

• Reporting a student coming to school late

• Requesting to pick up a student early from school

• Giving permission for a student to walk home after school or NOT take the bus.

LVMS DOES NOT accept phone calls for absences / hand-signed parent notes or emails for early dismissal and walking. Parents/Guardians are expected to enter ALL attendance information exclusively on PickUp Patrol. All Pick up / Walker entrances MUST be submitted by 2:00 PM. Students will be dismissed via the bus if not submitted in PickUp Patrol.

It is preferred that LVMS students ride buses to/from school since our parking lot is not structured for parent drop-off or pick-up; our buses are the easiest way to ensure timely arrival and dismissal. Of course, we know this is occasionally necessary and information specific to those procedures will be coming to parents soon. Please note that, effective immediately, students will not be permitted to enter the building until 8:30am unless they are participating in a club/program meeting before school begins - the club/program advisor will arrange to meet the students at our main entry on club days and provide supervision before the school day begins.

Please reach out to your grade level counselor with any specific questions! They are here to support all of our students as they transition into a new grade level and navigate middle school.

Please listen carefully to and check the morning announcements for updates and information on when LVMS clubs will begin. All participants must pay a $50 participation fee and complete the Clubs and Activities Participation Form.

Band / Chorus Information

Band Rehearsal - Band rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, September 6th. We will meet in room 43 during your afternoon cycle. Please bring your instrument to school on Wednesday. If you do not have an instrument please see Mrs. Oppel.

Morning Chorus - Students who are interested in joining Morning Chorus please email Mrs. Oppel. Morning Chorus will start on Wednesday morning September 13th. We meet at 7:45 in room 43.

Fall Intramurals

Intramural club will be starting on Thursday, September 14th , after school until 4:45. If you plan to participate, make sure that you have a permission slip and payment submitted to Mr. Petty or Mr. Schlesinger before September 14th.

Chess Club

Sign ups for the LVMS Chess Club have begun. Visit Mr Ryan's room (room 5 in the seventh grade wing) and pick up a permission slip. Please return your signed permission slip and payment to Mr. Ryan as soon as possible.

Please be aware that the deadline to submit sports physicals / paperwork has passed (8/18/23). Paperwork can no longer be accepted at this point. Only students that have submitted all paperwork and have been cleared by the district physician can participate in tryouts.

• Sign up outside Coach Demarest´s Room #26
• Take/Complete & Return Player form ASAP
• Return to sign up to verify they are cleared to try out (only those cleared may tryout)

Boys & Girls Cross Country - Ms. Erbe

Cross Country Orientation is this Wednesday, September 6th. Please meet in the North Gym after dismissal at 3:20 p.m. Please arrange for transportation/parent pick-up at 4 p.m.

Cross Country practice begins this Thursday, September 7th. Please remember to bring a change of clothes to run in, a reusable water bottle, and sneakers. Additionally, please make arrangements for transportation/parent pick-up at 4:45 p.m.

First PTA Meeting of the 2023-24 School Year:
