A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families and Supporters,
We have some amazing recognitions coming up!
TOMORROW, send a note to your child's bus driver or Ms. Staci/Mrs. Shari to recognize Bus Driver and Administrative Assistant Day!
We are seeking your help to ensure that the RES staff realizes how valued they are during Teacher Appreciation Week! A simple project went home in folders on Thursday 4/13 and are to be returned TOMORROW!!!
Please encourage your student to write a thank you note to (4) different staff members at RES. Please use the person’s title, explain why they are special and close out with the student’s name and grade. By completing 4 notes, this increases the odds of recognition for EVERY staff member (teachers, unified arts, academic support, paraprofessionals, building staff, etc.). These notes will be displayed in the lobby during appreciation week (5/8-5/12)!
These are the last big homework assignments before the beautiful spring break!
On May 8, students will wear their classroom teacher's favorite color, which will make for a pretty amazing class photo they will never forget. Over break, try to find clothes in the following color...you have two weeks to prepare!
Caswell (Teal)
Scally (PINK-COLOR CHANGE!)
Jackson (Blue)
Woodhouse (Green)
Caruso (Blue)
Hanna (Blue)
Gwinn (Pink/Coral)
Bischoff (Green)
Ross (Blue)
Goss (Green)
DeFreze (Yankee Blue)
Sabine (Teal)
Smaracko (Blue)
Sincerely,
Michelle Pitts

This will be run similarly to the Rye Rec program and we would like to thank them for their incredible flexibility and teamwork! Students will spend this time in the Rye Rec rooms at RES and the staff will be from Rye Rec as well.
We would NEED to know if families want to utilize this Rye Rec option so PLEASE email Staci Ryan at sryan@sau50.org.

Placement for 2023-2024
Based on the small community that we have at RES, sometimes with only two options for class placements, we cannot honor any requests. HOWEVER, if you have an extenuating circumstance that is truly unique and should be considered, please email Michelle Pitts. This information will be considered, but due to many factors, may not be possible. After class placement for 2023-2024 is sent to students, we know that we can work through any potential challenges that were not originally anticipated because we value teamwork, especially between home and school.
Below are some factors to consider:
-We only consider information from this current year as we may not be privy or have information about particular relationships between students, etc. from previous years.
-Please do not assume that incidents between certain children will be recalled during the placement process as this is a challenge when so many factors are being considered.
-It is important to understand that anything written will be shared with teachers after the Principal has read them.
-Requests for specific teachers cannot be honored. The process of placing students is multifaceted, rendering it impossible to honor these requests.
-Please understand that the Rye Elementary staff cannot take calls or discuss placement regarding specific placement requests. To do so would compromise the hard work of all involved.

Assembly About 9-1-1
This week we had an assembly regarding the 911 emergency system. It was extremely helpful to attend this assembly, as a whole school. It ensures that we are all using the same language and have the same understanding of when to, when not to, and how to use the 911 emergency system.
The presenters left us with some “homework” to help keep your family safe, when not in school. Each child should:
Talk with their family about how they can call 911 at your home - options being landlines and/or cell phones. Also, there were a lot of questions about whether or not they could use their smart watch. Therefore, please specifically talk about that as well.
Tell 2 adults that 911 can be TEXTED. Although phone calls are preferred, texting is an option when it is not possible or safe to make a phone call.
Discuss that 911 is for medical, fire, and/or police emergencies.
KNOW THEIR HOME ADDRESS. Even as a kindergartener, it is possible and crucial for them to know their address.
We want to thank the NH Department of Safety for this informative program and also thank them for answering one of our student's questions.
Can you call 911 on an Alexa?
Federal regulations require a device calling 911 to give a call back number and a location. The Alexa is not designed to transmit this information to 911 and therefore is unable to call it.
