The football team concluded their season on November 10th with a 20-8 victory over Carolina Springs. The win over the Huskies was the second in a 5 day span and 3 straight win overall. After a somewhat slow start to the season, the War Hawks finished their season winning 4 out of 5 games. On top of beating our rival twice, we also had victories over Gilbert and Pleasant Hill, the only two teams that were able to beat us last season. This team could have easily packed it in after the slow start, but instead, did the exact opposite. They continued to work hard each day at practice and it showed on the field. They got behind each other, played as a family, and improved every single week! Coach Albino wants to thank all 4 student managers, all 4 of our assistant coaches and all 48 student athletes for an outstanding season! Go 'Hawks!

Our first official game is next week! (See game dates above) Due to Covid-19 safety precautions, we will play the same team twice each week. The girls' games will begin promptly at 5:30pm with the boys' games immediately following. Wish our WarHawk basketball players well this season!

This year the boys basketball team looks to improve on their history making season last year with 12 wins and a South Division title. The War Hawks were the first ever to win the South Division in the newly created Lex10 Conference. The boys basketball team went on to play in the conference championship falling 3 points short in overtime against their rival, the Lexington Wildcats. This year, the War Hawks have transitioned to the North Division of the Lex10 conference and look to be the first team ever to win both divisions in back to back seasons. They also are hoping to return to the championship with 4 returning starters and a host of new faces that are sure to help the War Hawks soar higher in 2020-21. Our Warhawks spent the last two weeks of November exploring careers since November is National Career Development Month. They took a career interest assessment on SCOIS (South Carolina Career Information System) website and they watched a virtual tour of the Lexington Technology Center. So, talk with your child today to see what the plans are for the future!

From November 9 - November 20, WKMS (along with other schools in the district) participated in the Linking Lexington 1 campaign. This student-led fundraiser gave us the opportunity to honor those we love that have fought a battle with cancer. Students and staff bought links (color-coded by cancer type), face masks, and neck gaiters to show our support. All money will be used to help people in our community that are dealing with financial burdens due to cancer treatment costs and lack of work. Together, our WarHawk family raised $631.50 in two short weeks! Take a look at our chain below! Each link has the name of a person we know who has fought the cancer battle. It is a powerful display of how many have been affected by this illness. The chain will be displayed at the Cancer Awareness Basketball game on December 10th. We are proud of our WarHawks for doing their part to help others in need.

On November 14th and 15th USA softball hosted their 14U Winter World Series tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC. Because of the number of teams in this tournament it was broken into four divisions and played at two sports complexes over two days. A local travel-ball team called The Southern Surge won their division to bring home the Championship and the title of USA Winter World Champions. This team is made up of girls that play ball or will be playing ball at White Knoll High, Lexington High, River Bluff, Grays Collegiate, Mid Carolina High, and North Central High. Our very own Grace Blume from White Knoll Middle was the winning pitcher in the final Championship game. Awesome job, ladies! Way to represent Lexington 1!
