GOD'S GOT YOUR BACK!!
Annual "Blessing of the Backpacks" Mass
Dear Lord, as our students begin a new school year, we pray that you will keep them in your care. Send your Spirit to open their minds to all that is true and beautiful and good. Help them to see the gifts and talents you have given them and to use them well. Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom. Help them to be kind to others and lead others to be kind to them. Give their teachers patience and understanding and help them teach what is just and true. Send your angels to guide and guard our children and to keep them from all harm. Open their young hearts to your presence and enfold them in your peace and protection. Hold them in the palm of your hand and bring them home safely at day’s end. Amen.
Back to School Bible Verses
Summer always seems to fly by, especially when we are faced with a new school year and may not be quite ready to get back into homework, tests, and meeting new classmates. Here are some Bible verses to help our children and youth of all ages trust God and lean on Him as we return to school.
When Worried About The Workload…
- Philippians 4:13: “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
- James 1:5: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
- Isaiah 40:29-31: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
When Worried About Fitting In…
- Psalm 139:14: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
- Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
When Wanting to Make the Right Choices…
- Isaiah 30:21: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”
- Isaiah 48:17: “This is what the Lord says — your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.’”
- Proverbs 4:23: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.”
When Needing a Boost of Positivity…
- 1 Corinthians 10:31: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
- Psalm 20:4: “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”
Praying through Scripture can help as you guide your children through this new school year. All parish families are in our prayers for a blessed school year! Reach out to our Faith Formation offices for family support or to learn about our many programs for God’s children of all ages.

Holy Trinity has a new YOUTH MINISTER!
We are very excited to welcome Michelle Schultheis to our Faith Formation Ministry as our new Confirmation Coordinator and Youth Minister!
Over this past year in sharing the top priorities of our parish with Fr. Jorge, we quickly identified the growing need to reach out to young people. To accomplish this goal, we knew we would need to hire a dedicated Youth Minister. We have since been praying for God to call someone to serve as a role model and leader to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where all young people feel valued and accepted. God responded!
We are very excited to welcome Michelle to our Faith Formation Ministry, and look forward to partnering with her to provide a space where our children and youth can explore their faith and actively participate in the life of the Church. On behalf of our entire parish family, THANK YOU, Michelle, for answering God’s call with enthusiasm and joining our faith community! WELCOME!
Who is Michelle?
Hi everyone! My name is Michelle Schultheis and I’m your new Confirmation and Youth Ministry Coordinator. I am so excited to meet you!
I have been working with families and youth over the past several years at various churches and have enjoyed walking with people on their faith journeys. I hold closely to my heart the quote by Kid President, “Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody.” I believe that we, as the body of Christ, are called to love others and to remind them of their inherit dignity.
In my free time, you’ll find me playing volleyball, dancing, and spending time with loved ones. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, especially by lakes and beaches. I am so blessed to be welcomed by you and I look forward to getting to know you!
In Christ,
Michelle Schultheis

CHRISTIAN YOUTH SERVICE HOURS
One of the most important ways we grow in our Faith Formation journey, and strengthen our relationship with God, is in serving others. In fact, Jesus himself calls us to serve others as we read in Matthew 25:40, ”Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”
Beginning in the 6th grade, we integrate service into our Faith Formation curriculum. We ask our future candidates for Confirmation to freely give their time and talents to serve with love in their families, schools, parish, and community. It is in serving others that we are witnesses to Christ by our good deeds, and it is our service to each other that spreads the faith.
