Dear Sierra Families,

Each month, our teachers recognize two students for outstanding citizenship as a Sparky Super-Star. These are students who go above and beyond in exemplifying our 3 school-wide expectations, (1) Be Respectful, (2) Be Responsible, (3) Be Safe. This month, we proudly recognize the following Dragons:

We also have two students who are selected from 4th & 5th grade as the "Principal for the Day", and I had the pleasure of spending the day with Janely V. and Adalynn B.

Reagan Phillips

This week, we wished Mrs. Delgado happy retirement as she ended her career in Placerville Union School District, with over 20 years of service. We are all forever grateful for her big heart and everything that she has done over the years for our students and families. We will miss her, and hope that she enjoys this next phase in her life with her family. Sierra School loves you!

If you would like to walk with a certain teacher, the following are the times groups are leaving the bus depot to walk to Sierra School.

Hello Dragons!

We had a wonderful week in the library. Our friends from the UPS Store on Broadway in Placerville worked with Toys for Tots and raised money to “give back to the community”. With the money they raised, they chose our school to donate books to! On Wednesday the 28th, they delivered 7 boxes of books from Scholastic. We are very thankful to have received so many wonderful books for our students. If you are ever in the UPS Store, be sure to say “Thank You” for the great books! Our community is so amazing to our kiddos! Remember, good things happen when you read!

Miss Dora

Sierra School will be participating in a "Warm & Fuzzy" Drive, supporting a local non-profit organization Hands 4 Hope. We will have a collection barrel in our front office from October 10-21st.

The following are items that are in high demand:

• Sock Drive: New socks & underwear are in huge demand with every agency we speak to. We can never get enough of these!

• Pajamas: New pajamas are also in big demand for foster children and other agencies serving children.

• Warm clothing: Any warm gently used or new clothing such as pants, sweatshirts, sweaters, shirts, and jackets.

• Other needed items: Gently used coats, rubber-soled shoes in good condition, gloves/mittens, scarves, and warm hats.

• Oct. 29: Carnival
• Oct. 31-Nov. 4: Book Fair

• Nov. 21-25: Thanksgiving Break
