From Rev. Mary - The Long Haul

We’ve been at this for a while now, and many of us are eager to have more freedom in our lives, maybe something that feels a bit more like normal. And yet, I hear from many of you that you are understanding that things are not likely to ever return to the way they were. This is a time of transition on a personal and global scale.

I have been thinking and reflecting a lot lately on the future of “church” in general and OUUC in particular. I grieve that I will never experience a full “normal” church year with you, as much as this first year together would have been normal. And yet, this is a time for trying new things and adapting. It pushed us to live stream services, an aspiration I heard about when I candidated with you last year.

A Few Words from OUUC's Parish Nurse

Our Parish Nurse, Ann Yeo, like many of you, is eagerly awaiting the “re-opening” of the outside world of social contacts, events, services, and travel opportunities. Yet, the eagerness is tempered with great caution, of course. This re-opening involves such an incredibly intricate balance of slowly getting us back to a normal and sustainable way of life, while hopefully preventing a resurgence of the COVID-19 infections and deaths in our communities. Masks for the Thurston County Jail

The inmates at the jail need masks to help them stay healthy. They live in dorms and it is hard for them to stay apart. If you would like to donate homemade masks, please contact Steve Tilley. He can pick them up and deliver them to the jail. Thank you!

In the Larger Community

UUA General Assembly - June 24-28. General Assembly (GA) is online this year—a 100% virtual event! This year’s GA theme is Rooted, Inspired, & Ready! We are in touch with our theological roots, we are engaged in transforming our faith, and we are fired up to take action in the wider world. Registration is $150 for all events. Some events, like the Service of the Living Tradition, you can attend without registration or a fee. It will never be easier to attend the international gathering of Unitarians and Universalists.
