Survey of Intent
As we begin to plan for the FY24 season, leadership needs to know colleagues' intentions for the new school year. I ask that all staff complete the survey linked here by Friday, February 3, 2023. If you need to speak with me, please note that on the survey, and we can schedule a time to chat. Thank you, and have a great day!
AP Survey
As I work this year to improve my practice as an Assistant Principal, I ask that you complete this very short survey. I plan to use this feedback during the second semester. All staff – MCEA and SEIU… please respond😊 If something isn’t applicable to you, simply choose the “not applicable” option.
I know everyone is short on time, so I very much appreciate you taking the time to complete this. Thank you!!
Focus Group Meetings
Math Updates - MP 3
Kindergarten
- Grading and Reporting: Measurement and Data (MD) is included as part of instruction but not reported out in the gradebook. The pacing guide provisions for only two days in Module 3. Only two days could be used for MD instruction or assessment.
- Assessments: There is no Evidence of Learning district assessment for MP3. This is a change from last year. Teachers are still encouraged to use all recommended assessments.
- Content: There are four word problem types introduced in kindergarten. As you prepare to teach, take note of Add To with Result Unknown, Take From with Result Unknown, Put Together with Total Unknown, and Put Together with Both Addends Unknown. All students should be proficient with all four types of word problems by the end of kindergarten. The OA Progressions Document (beginning on page 6) includes descriptors and examples of each.
Grade 1
- Grading and Reporting: Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA), Measurement and Data (MD), and Geometry (G) are included as part of instruction but not reported out in the gradebook. The End-of-Module 3 assessment includes 3 MD standards, however, this assessment is not required. Many teachers broke up this assessment to include as part of their topic quizzes in MP2. For this reason, MD is NOT reported in MP3.
- Assessments: Mid Module 4 has been revised. Please refer to the assessment overview for the current assessment and rubric.
Grade 3
- Grading and Reporting: Geometry (G) is included as part of instruction but not reported out in the gradebook. There are only four lessons that include Geometry in MP3.
Grade 4
- Grading and Reporting: Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA) are included as part of instruction but not reported out in the gradebook. Module 5 has only one OA lesson.
Math 4/5
- Grading and Reporting: Numbers and Operations-Fractions (NF) and Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA) are included as part of instruction but not reported out in the gradebook. In Module 6, there are only three NF lessons. There are no stand-alone OA lessons or assessment questions in Module 7.
- Assessments: End of Module 7 is designated as the Evidence of Learning District Assessment. This is a change from last year.
Grade 5
- Grading and Reporting: Measurement and Data (MD) and Operations and Algebraic Thinking (OA) are included as part of instruction but not reported out in the gradebook. Module 5 includes 7 lessons with MD, however the Mid-Module Assessment occurs after lesson 9 (in MP4). If teachers are collecting grades during these lessons, hold them until MP4.
