In the event that your child will be missing school, please follow these steps:

1) Email both your child's teacher and Ms. Amy McGovern, our registrar. Amy.mcgovern@austinisd.org

2) Please include your child's first and last name

3) Please provide the reason for the absence so we can code it correctly in our attendance system.

For the month of May, 3rd graders can join safety patrol and get ready to be our leaders for next year!

We are encouraging 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to sign up for safety patrol for a two week block of time during the school year. Thank you for being a campus leader!

Students will drop backpack off in the front foyer/vestibule, sign in, grab a vest, and head out front. We need help waving cars to the front of the line, opening doors, and welcoming each child with a warm greeting or sending students off at the end of the day.

• VP Fundraising - Love local businesses and want to get them to team up with us for our Spirit Nights?!? Love coffee and supporting our hard working teachers, admins and staff at school?!? This position includes coordinating agreements with restaurants or other family friendly locations to give back a portion of sales to Kiker for planned spirit nights. Along with that, this position also includes coordinating the monthly coffee sponsorships that are purchased at the beginning of the school year.

• Volunteer Coordinator - Do you love SignUp Genius and coordinating volunteer opportunities for PTA events throughout the year? Do you have a knack for helping get families more involved at school? We are looking for one more person to round out this very important two person team!

Help Kiker PTA send our teachers and staff out for summer with a big thank you! We are collecting gift cards for a fun end of the year giveaway. Gift cards can be for any amount $10+, and for any place you think a staff member would enjoy! We have a lot of gift cards to collect, so we'd prefer multiple gift cards in smaller denominations than one large gift card. This is a great opportunity to give a gift card that may have been sitting unused for awhile. Please drop gift cards off in the front office anytime before May 15th.

5th Graders: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to SLEEP in the library? Well now your STUFFIE can find out! The Kiker Library presents: Camp Read S’more, a weekend STUFFED with library fun, just for 5th Grade stuffies! Students may drop off ONE stuffie (no accessories) for camp Friday, May 12th, in the library. Stuffie Pick-Up will be on Monday, May 15th. Which of your stuffies will YOU send to camp? Pick one and we’ll see you at Drop-Off next Friday!

Kindergarten and First Grade are invited to an author visit with Kimberly Bradford-Brown on May 10th at 9am in the cafeteria. If you would like Kimberly to sign a book, please purchase on Amazon in advance and make sure your child brings the book with them to the author visit. This is NOT a Book People author visit.
