Hi, my name is Michael Denny and I am the Principal at Housel Middle School. I would like to take a moment and welcome each of our students to Housel Middle School for the 2022-23 school year. The past several years have been filled with uncertainty and regulations that made a "normal" year difficult. This year we have planned to bring back many activities that have been put on hold for the past two years as we look to increase the excitement and enjoyment of the education experience at HMS. We are looking forward to class competitions, assemblies, seasonal activities, pep rallies and guest speakers to name a few. School can be rigorous and challenging as well as exciting and fun and we hope to provide our students with a well rounded educational experience this year.

This year we will offer a back to school experience for students that are NEW to HMS (all 6th grade students and any 7th or 8th grade newly enrolled students). On Thursday, August 25th, we will have a new student orientation from 6:30-7:30pm. We will begin the evening in the North Gym (use the main building entrance). We will begin with a few short words from building administrators, classroom teachers and current 7th and 8th grade students. Once the informational portion of the evening is concluded, our new students and families will be able to walk through the building and get familiar with the school building and classroom layout.

Back to School Night will be held at Housel Middle School on Monday, August 29th. This time is designed for students to walk through their schedules, meet their teachers, and get acquainted with Housel Middle School. Students schedules, bell schedules, building maps, and school calendars will be available.

Back to school night will begin at 6:30pm and end at 7:30pm.

The first day of school is August 30th. School doors will open at 7:40 and the first class will begin at 8:00.

Student individual pictures are Friday September 2nd. All students will have their picture taken regardless if they order pictures or not. If you would like to order pictures, the picture order packets will be handed out earlier in the week to take home and review. Picture retakes will occur sometime in October.

August 1: Skyward is open for new and returning student registration.

August 12: Sports registration opens in Family ID for 7/8th grade students interested in Fall sports (Football, Cross Country, Volleyball and Boys Soccer)

August 16: HMS Office back open daily from 8:00am to 4:00pm. (786-1732)

August 24: Fall Sports Meeting – Parents/Players - 6:30pm at PHS Gymnasium.

August 24: Schedules available to families in Skyward.

August 25: New Student Orientation – 6:30-7:30pm HMS North Gym – Open to all 6th grade students and any newly enrolled 7/8 grade students.

Aug 24/25/26: The school will be open from 9:00-11:30 and 1:00-3:00 to pick up student schedules and walk through the building. (Schedules will also be available in Skyward) Staff will be in professional development classes and may not be available.

August 29: Back to School Night – 6:30-7:30pm – HMS. Schedules available and school open to all students.

August 30: First Day of School! Doors open at 7:40am, class begins at 8:00am

September 2: School Picture Day – packets will be handed out earlier in the week.

September 5: Labor Day – No School
