SALUTE TO Coach Joe Khouzam!
On Wednesday, our school district held its much-anticipated annual "Salute to Teachers" event at the splendid Walnut High School Performing Arts Center. This extraordinary occasion was dedicated to celebrating the remarkable Teachers of the Year for 2023. Let's give a huge round of applause to the exceptional Joe Khouzam, who received well-deserved recognition from our district and board!
Charles Tran Approved as New Instructional Dean
We are thrilled to introduce you to our new Instructional Dean, Charles Tran, who will oversee Special Education, Math, and PE.
Charles comes to us with an impressive 11 years of teaching experience. We are fortunate to have him starting his second year here at Walnut High School, where he has demonstrated dedication and passion for education, making him a valuable addition to our team.
Currently, Charles serves as an Educational Specialist, providing crucial support to our ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) students. In addition to his role as an Educational Specialist, Charles also serves as the head volleyball coach.
As we transition into this new phase with Charles as our Instructional Dean and work on finding his replacement in the classroom, please note that this will take some time. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this process. Joe Almasy will continue to serve as interim dean and will be available to support us.
Live Music & Great Food Under the Stars at our Annual Jazz BBQ!
Our jazz students played in front of 250+ people on October 13 with special guest staff member performers, Ms. Maletz & Mr. Panlilio. Thanks to Mr. Wicks, Ms. Takahashi, and our parents for making it a great night for our students and families!
THE GREAT SHAKE OUT 2023
THANK YOU to our students and staff for participating in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill.
Your support during this and every drill, as well as real emergencies, is crucial to the safety of our staff and students. In the event of a real emergency, family reunification will take place in the student lot to check your student out. You will not report to the front office. We will support each other and our students. Flexibility and communication are vital. Our goal is to keep everyone safe. Our hard work in preparing and practicing emergency procedures will help us meet our goal.
Please take the time to talk with your students about their emergency plans outside of school hours.
Thank you again for your support.
CHUCKWAGON SUCCESS!
Our annual big Chuckwagon BBQ community event was held last night, and it was full of performances, a photo booth, and fun for those in attendance. The Chuckwagon is an annual WHS event that helps raise school spirit and funds for our football, band, and cheer program. It's also fun to promote the yearly Branding Iron Football Game!
Thank you to the Walnut High Community Club, Band Boosters, Football Boosters, and our Cheer Boosters for all their hard work behind the scenes!
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported. See you tonight at the game!
