Eccles Weekly News
Below are some school highlights & updates for the week...
Spring Is Here!
We hope you had a wonderful Spring Break and enjoyed some of the sunny weather! Our next few months of school will be packed with fun things that we’ve all been missing over the past year or so; including field trips, assemblies, Jog-a-Thon, Scholastic Book Fair, parent volunteering, and more. It’s been such a pleasure to see families coming through the building for school drop-off and office visits. All of these things have been long-awaited and we can’t wait to experience them with you as a community.
School Arrival Time
To stay up-to-date on our school calendar and upcoming events, visit the Eccles website, or school calendar (click Eccles from the list of schools).
YMCA After-School Program
Starting next week, we are partnering with the YMCA for our 2nd round of the after school program for our 3rd-6th grade students. This round offers two exciting classes - Shark Discovery (spaces open) & Soccer (waitlist). Space is limited and slots will be assigned on a first come/first served basis.

Kinder Kick-Off!
Tuesday, Apr 12, 2022, 06:00 PM
Eccles Elementary School, Northwest 5th Avenue, Canby, OR, USA
If you have a student who will be five years old by Sept. 1, then get ready for our Kinder Kick-offs! These events will be held in-person at each of our elementary schools and will help incoming students imagine a day in the life of a kindergartner. They’ll have a chance to tour the school, meet the teachers and principal, and even receive a welcome gift bag.
Otherwise check out your neighborhood school on April 12 from 6-7 p.m. If you need help determining which school your child should attend, use the Clackamas County Address Checker. Families are welcome to enroll their students ahead of time as registration is open online now.
If you think a Spanish and English K-12 educational program might be right for your student, then please join the first kick-off on April 5 from 6-7 p.m. at Trost Elementary, Canby’s dual language immersion magnet school.
Free Vision Screenings
Free vision screenings are coming up! Canby School District works with the Oregon Lions Club to provide these screenings each year at all of our elementary schools for grades K-6 and Ninety-One School for grades K-8. It is painless and is done from a distance, not touching the child’s eyes or face. Most children pass the exam, and those results are not sent home, except by request. For children whose no-passing results warrant follow-up with a specialist or health-care provider, results will be sent home to the parent or guardian.
This year’s screening will take place at Eccles on April 27th at 10:15 am. To opt out of the screening, please contact the school office.
For questions or information on financial assistance for a child’s vision issues, please contact the district nurses.
State testing for 3rd-6th Grade Students
State testing will pick up again this year for all 3rd-6th grade students. At Eccles we will be conducting state testing for these grade levels starting in April.
