Reminder: Resignation Deadline for Non-Tenured Teachers

Take Your Child to Work Day - Lawful Absence
Because there are often significant events scheduled at companies and school system partners throughout the county for Take Your Child to Work Day, Superintendent Bulson will allow student absences for such activities. With a note from the parent/guardian, an absence on April 27, 2023, will be coded as LAWFUL. HCPS is not promoting or endorsing the day; however, we will allow for a lawful absence code if the child is absent. Mass communication to your school communities is not necessary. Please deal with these issues on a one-on-one basis as they arise.
In addition, HCPS employees are still not allowed to bring children to work with them as it is a liability issue for the school system.
Questions regarding this information should be directed to Bernard Hennigan, Executive Director of Student Support Services, at Bernard.Hennigan@hcps.org or 410-588-5334.
It’s Here! HCPS has an App!
The HCPS app is available to iPhone and Android users. With this app, you can access important information such as school directories, district news, staff resources, MySchoolBucks and other accounts, social media feeds and more! The app allows for this information to be in one centralized, customizable, easy to read location. We encourage all staff members to download the app by clicking here, or you can go to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to download the app today! Please familiarize yourself with the app as we continue to introduce it to stakeholders throughout our community.

Shout Outs!
"I want to give a HUGE shout out to Mrs. Paul and Dr. Sereno at Bel Air Middle School for all the wonderful help with 8th grade Physical Science while long-term subbing. Thank you Mrs. Paul and Dr. Sereno for all the extra support. You both are wonderful teachers!"
-Danielle Mallon, Long Term Substitute, Bel Air Middle School
"Shout out to Kilo Mack. Kilo was at Southampton Middle School for a teacher observation. It was also bus evacuation day and historically, our drop off lines are always long. Kilo took it upon himself to assist the staff and direct traffic. He gave new meaning to “once a Principal, always a Principal.”
-Helen E. Miller, Ed.D., Principal, Southampton Middle School
"I would like to give a shout out to bus driver Liz Ceiling of Bus #812. A student forgot her binder which included her hearing aids on the bus. Ms. Ceiling returned to AHS to ensure the student could get through the day without any complications. This act of service and dedication makes a huge difference in the lives of HCPS students. This particular student said "she's chill like that"; that's some pretty big praise!"
-Kara DeFord, BSN, RN, NCSN, School Nurse, Aberdeen High School
"Shout out to Deborah Seling, Administrative Support Specialist at North Harford Elementary School, for always going above and beyond to help our students/families. She is always willing to take time out of her busy day to assist in any way she can."
