CCPS Parent Movie "Screenagers Under the Influence" Dec 12 @ 6:30pm
Chesterfield County Public Schools invites parents and teens to a free showing of "Screenagers Under the Influence: Addressing Vaping, Drugs and Alcohol in the Digital Age" at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at CTC@Hull (13900 Hull Street Road). A panel discussion with health specialists will follow the screening. Get more information and reserve your free tickets here.
"Screenagers Under the Influence: Addressing Vaping, Drugs and Alcohol in the Digital Age" examines the impact of technology on teens' decision-making about vaping, drugs and alcohol. Exploring the latest research and learning more about the personal experiences of teens and families, the film highlights the changing landscape of the substances, offering solutions for how to best empower teens as they face decisions about what they will and will not be influenced by.
The film debunks myths and depicts strategies parents and schools can use to encourage healthy decision-making, support teen mental health, set limits and create healthy home environments. The film also includes many ways young people are using their wisdom and strength to help each other and themselves through this complicated terrain around substance use.

Student Art Contest
You’re invited to use your creativity to brighten a new headquarters being built for Chesterfield County Public Schools. Construction is underway on the office building (located on Midlothian Turnpike and named Springline at District 60) that is expected to open in 2025.
It’s important that the headquarters show that students are at the center of Chesterfield County Public Schools, and incorporating art by our creative and talented student artists will make that clear.
All students in Chesterfield County Public Schools (from prekindergarten through 12th grade) are encouraged to create an original work of visual art in a medium of their choice that expresses the contest theme of “Better Together.” Designs will be judged on the creative use and communication of the theme. Only two-dimensional works, please. Entries are due by 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2024.
One overall winner from each level (elementary, middle and high) will be chosen and announced in February. Each winning entry, along with many of the works submitted for this contest, will be used as inspiration and reproduced within the overall interior design of the school system’s new headquarters.
There are two ways to submit artwork:
Option 2: Submit the original artwork and this permission form to your school’s main office.Did You Know? We had 353 of our students in grades 2-5 get Honor Roll 1st Qtr!

November PTA Updates
PTA Families,
Thank you for all of your help getting the word out to your friends and families about our Raise Craze fundraiser. We raised $48,512, and the PTA gets to keep $44,349, over 91%!!! Our students also completed 3,461 Acts of Kindness, an average of almost 4 Acts of Kindness per student, logged in our system. But we know the Acts of Kindness are continuing even with the end of the program. THANK YOU to the other five members of the Raise Craze committee: Maggie Lenart, Chris Plunkett, Ashlee Creador, Carrie Hawes, and Katie Hood. Thank you to all of our volunteers during our Opening Ceremony, Service Night, and Closing Ceremony. Without the time put in by our Committee, and help from our volunteers, we wouldn't have been able to make this our MOST SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER EVER!!!!
The money we raised from this fundraiser drives all of our opportunities to enhance the school for this year. We are focusing the money towards educational efforts at the school along with our commitment to keeping our large events free (Family Fun Night, STEAM Night, Dances). With this being our first year conducting Raise Craze, we have learned so much. We are also open to constructive feedback and welcome new ideas. Please email me directly at President@springrunpta.com with any thoughts.
Thank you,
Katie Adcock
PTA President
Volunteer of the Month!!
Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Carrie Hawes!
She has been an incredible silent helper. Every PTA event flyer you’ve received this year and many event graphics have come from her. She has designed and re-designed based on our PTA needs. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. She is also responsible for planning our entire Service Night, held in early October. She planned all of the service projects, organized all supplies, organized the locations, signs, and instructions, and when she got COVID just a few days before was able to give clear and concise instructions for us to pull off the event seamlessly. We are so happy to have Carrie Hawes helping us out as a volunteer this year! Carrie is our Volunteer of the Month, showing that much work can be done outside of the school building.
Carrie received a $15 gift card to Amazon and will get to park in the Volunteer of the Month spot until our next meeting at the end of November.
Thank you, Carrie, and congratulations!!
