The Eagle Gazette Updates
Week of September 7, 2020
A Message From Your Principal
Dear Village Eagles,
Character Trait of the Month
Each month Village School will focus on a Character Trait of the Month. We kicked off this program at Wednesday’s assembly by introducing September’s character trait: respect. All month we will discuss respect, what it means to us, what it looks like, and how we and others can demonstrate it within our community. I encourage you to look for ways to make a home-school connection by discussing the idea of respect with your child.
Speaking of Assemblies…
I sincerely apologize if you weren’t able to log on to this week’s assembly! I have worked with our tech department to resolve the issue. I am hopeful that next week’s assembly will be accessible to all! I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Please keep trying--we’ll get there.
Survey Results
Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey from our last newsletter. Please see the results below of how respondents are feeling about Distance Learning.
As you can see, if you’re feeling frustrated, you are not alone--it was the most-chosen response! And, I am also pleased to report that tied for second place were proud and thankful. I especially hope that you are proud of yourselves and your children. We are truly in this together, and it is extremely challenging.
Unreliable Wifi at Home? Please know that you are always welcome to come to the Village/District Office parking lot at 1000 Yulupa to access our wifi. We do ask that you stay in the car to adhere to social distancing guidelines, but you are welcome to use our wifi network. The network is VLw. The wifi password is Vle@6L3$!
Join School Site Council
Village is looking for three to four parent representatives to join this very important school committee. School Site Council meets four times per year. The purpose of Site Council is to give input and help evaluate school and district goals. Our first meeting is via Zoom on Tuesday, September 29 at 3:30. Consecutive meetings will be held November 17th, January 26th, and March 30th at 3:30.
If you are interested in joining School Site Council, please contact me via email (kwestrich@rvusd.org) or phone (545-5754).
Have a great weekend, Village Eagles!

Looking to connect with other Village families?
Click here to join the new Village Parents Club Slack Group
The Slack group is free, private, and easy to access from a phone or computer. It works a lot like a closed Facebook group, but it doesn't require a Facebook account and the conversations are really easy to search and organize.
In the Slack group you can connect with parents who have kids in the same grade, share ideas and support with other Village families, and feel less alone in this weird and wild time we are all parenting through.
Feel free to contact parentsclub@villageparents.org if you have questions or need help getting setup on Slack.
