Description
The conference program will build on details of Dr. Kearney's presentation on September 21. It will offer three sessions within the day for participants to hear a variety of cases presenting different symptomatologies of problematic absenteeism, and to consider strategies and interventions for problem-solving.
The three sessions include:
Case studies presented by Dr. Kearney for problem solving;
Case studies presented by the participants for review.
Objectives:
- be able to describe five symptomatologies of problem absenteeism/school refusal;
- be able to list five components of assessment procedures for determining etiologies of problematic absenteeism/school refusal;
- be able to list five key resources for assessing problem absenteeism;
- be able to describe three case plans that resulted in success, listing reasons for success; and
- be able to list three key resources for developing case plans that result in students' return to school with less distress.
