On Tuesday, November 10th, the Blair Oaks R-II School District Board of Education voted to extend the Thanksgiving Break to include Monday, November 23rd, and Tuesday, November 24th. This will mean that school will not be in session the entire week of Thanksgiving.

The staff of Blair Oaks High School is grateful for each parent and caring adult who loves and supports us so that our students can believe, achieve and succeed. We are thankful for the partnership that creates an environment conducive to success. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday!

No parent tunnels; avoid crowding outside locker rooms and concession areas; wear a mask any time you are not able to social distance; visit multiple concession stands to avoid long lines. Come out and support the Blair Oaks Falcon football team. You inspire them to play their best!

• Visit the Booster Club Store to view and order new Falconwear items.
• Additional items have been added, including Basketball Falconwear for the upcoming season and Falcon face masks.
• The deadline to order for Christmas delivery has been extended to Tuesday, November 17th.

The Blair Oaks R-II School District will be hosting its annual Thanksgiving Dinner.

• Date: Thursday, November 19, 2020
• Meal will be available for pick-up at the high school from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
• Cost of the meal is $3.00; it will include all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings.

If you plan to purchase a dinner, please contact the High School Office at 635-8514 to make reservations. It would be appreciated if reservations could be made by Tuesday, November 17th, to assist in meal preparation. The event will be limited this year to 150 meals. We are sorry that the event will not be in-person this year, but we are hopeful to see everyone back next year!

Celebrate the start of Thanksgiving break! All proceeds will support Student Council's adoption of a family for Christmas this year.

First, we cannot thank you enough for helping us "make it to the next day!" It has not been easy, but we can see the perseverance from our students, staff, parents and community. Thank you for that!

Second, it is time to start looking ahead to second semester. Each family has the opportunity to choose one of the following three options:

1. Continue face-to-face education - (If you choose this option, there is no need to do anything.)

2. Virtual - Student would be enrolled in Launch, 100% virtual course based out of Springfield Public Schools. Blair Oaks covers the cost of the program; however, no Blair Oaks teachers are involved in the actual instruction students would receive. By selecting this option, students are committing to a full semester. **IEP teams will meet to determine the appropriate plan for any IEP students choosing this option in accordance with IDEA. (If you choose this option, you will need to reach out to your building principal. If you are already virtual, someone will be reaching out to you.)

3. Homeschool - student would be educated at home, sought out and provided by family. (If you choose this option, please communicate with your school principal.)

Deadline to choose virtual instruction is December 4.

Following is a link to the statewide all occupations High Demand list. These are jobs that require at least a high school diploma but less than a bachelor degree and had at least 50 openings anticipated

Students with symptoms should not attend school. School policy states:

• Fever: temperature by mouth greater than 100.1 degrees
  Student should not return to school until there is no fever for at least 48 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
  
• Diarrhea/Vomiting
  Student should not return to school until symptom-free for 48 hours.

A dashboard link has been provided on the front page of the district website. Approximately once a week, numbers will be updated showing current number of students and staff positive as well as number quarantined. It will also provide the percentage of students out due to COVID related absences.

Thank you for helping with Leon's Patriot Tree. We were able to fill up 4 1/2 copy boxes full of supplies and another $180 to help out local veterans in-need. Everything given was donated at the Gold Star Family Seminar.
