It has been a chilly week and we are looking forward to warmer temperatures. I always look forward to April and May because of the nice weather and beautiful flowers, but somehow I forget how busy this time of year is when closing down another school year. This year seems to be particularly busy with planning for our special events with Covid-19 restrictions in mind. The hard work is definitely worth it as we look forward to celebrating these special occasions as a community since we didn't get to last year. Below are some updates on two upcoming events:
May Crowning on Monday, May 3rd at 2 pm, will be at church with a smaller portion of our school community and we are hopeful we can live stream this event as well. More information coming next week.
Our graduation Mass and Ceremony will be combined at the church on the morning of Friday, May 14th. This will be reserved for our Eighth Grade families and their guests. We will live stream both the Mass and ceremony so our community can celebrate this wonderful group of eighth-graders together.
Some of you might be anticipating next week's announcement from the County Commissioner and I would like to give more insight into how our school will be handling the decision. On April 30, 2021, there is a chance that the County Commissioner’s office rescinds the requirement for masks. However, we will not be removing the mask requirement this school year regardless of what the Commissioner’s office decides.
The success of this school year has been a tremendous achievement for our entire community. However, the school year is not finished and COVID-19 is not gone. It is our responsibility to be respectful of each other and the legitimate health concerns of some of our students and their families. It is important for students to feel safe and parents to know their children are safe at school. We will finish the year strong and healthy with cooperation and understanding. This will allow the staff to re-evaluate this summer to formulate a plan that best fits our students and community. Thank you for your continued patience and prayers. We are Holy Cross STRONG!
