We have had an awesome Spirit Week, leading up to our COLOR RUN tomorrow! We would like to thank our PTO for organizing the run and making this event something that everyone is looking forward to!

We welcome everyone to join us on the blacktop at 2:00pm to kick it off. No need to check in at the office, unless you are a volunteer helping to set up.

If you are planning on taking your student home early after the color run, please read the directions below, and don't forget to send a YELLOW NOTE to school.

Looking ahead, don't forget that Monday is a Professional Development Day for staff and there will be no school for students on September 25. I hope you're able to enjoy the beautiful fall weather over the long weekend.

Yesterday, Dr. Thompson treated our Mill Valley Staff to the Better Together Coffee Truck, which gave us an opportunity to say good-bye and wish her well in the next chapter of her life. We will miss her amazing leadership and support over the past 12 years as our Superintendent.

Artist Ms. Marina Lee will be working with us again this year to continue adding to our Music and Art playground. Keep a lookout for additions happening throughout the fall and into the spring. We can’t wait to see the students' ideas come to life and join our creature from last year. We have exciting things in store for the area!

We are currently looking for donations of the following plants and items by Monday, October 2. If you have any beautiful plants that bloom in early spring or late summer that aren’t included on this list please email me to see if the gardens could use them! Items can be dropped off to the yellow wheelbarrow outside of door 3 to the right of the Main Entrance anytime by October 2. The Muskego-Norway School District is highlighting Mill Valley’s physical education fishing unit in their fall community newsletter. We are asking families to submit photos of their Mill Valley student(s) with their trophy catches of any size to potentially be selected to support the article. Please only send photos taken within the past two years. Original files can be sent to the district’s Marketing & Communications Specialist, Alyssa Meyer, at alyssa.meyer@muskegonorway.org.

• Parent traffic should yield to buses as they turn left into the parking lot and stay clear of the curve/turns when buses are pulling out.
• Vehicles can only turn RIGHT into the parking lot for Parent Pick Up.
• The bell at 3:45 pm signals the start of parent pick up. Please keep the parking lot and Hillendale Drive open until 3:45 pm.

• If your child has not had a picture taken already, it will be taken then. Ordering information will be given out at the time of pictures.

• If a picture was already taken, but a retake is needed, please let your teacher know so your child can be sent for pictures. Please return the original picture package to the photographer at the time of pictures. The same package will be ordered with the new image. New packages will not be received unless the original package is returned.

Once a month, you will receive an email from Infinite Campus detailing your student’s attendance history. All families will be receiving this email even if their child has not been absent from school. This email is meant to be a communication between school and home. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Deanna Nowicki, School Social Worker at deanna.nowicki@muskegonorway.org or 262-422-1131. Good attendance habits in the early grades are strong predictors for future success in high school and beyond.

The Muskego-Norway School Board invites your participation in developing a desired Profile to inform the search and selection of our next Superintendent of Schools to begin on July 1, 2024.

The New Superintendent Profile will be based on both survey and focus group participation and responses. The online survey, linked below, will be on our district website through September 29 and the focus groups with various stakeholder groups will be scheduled at convenient times during the month of September. Parent and community member focus group dates, times, and locations are listed below. Based on the survey and focus group results, the New Superintendent Profile will be presented to the School Board for approval on October 9, 2023.

Responses to the survey and focus group questions will help to inform the “greatest strengths” of the district to sustain and continue to grow, and the “greatest challenges” of the district to prioritize and address. Your responses will also seek input on the projected initial priorities/goals of the new superintendent and the “most important characteristics/skills” needed to make the connections to address the priorities/goals together.

So, your participation in the online survey, linked below, and the in-person focus groups during the month of September is essential to informing the search - both as an encouragement for qualified candidates to apply and as an encouragement for the school board in their vetting process to discern the most qualified candidate to continue to lead the continuous improvement steps of our sought after Muskego-Norway Schools.

• Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 9:00 AM at the ESC

• Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 6:30 PM at the ESC

• Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 6:30 PM at the ESC

The store will close on Sunday, September 24th at midnight.

Orders will be delivered before Thanksgiving.

PTO will have a special birthday table set up at lunch and a small gift from PTO. The Birthday Table will be every 3rd Thursday of the month. If your student had a birthday in August or September we will be celebrating on Thursday, September 28th. You are welcome to join your student for lunch (max 2 visitors per student).
