Thank You!!
It was great to see so many students, staff, and community members exhibiting pride in our school and community last week during homecoming. The school would like to say thank you to everyone who helped contribute their time and resources toward making the week and events a success. We would like to extend a special thank you to Akron FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, Student Council, Lions Club, and Shanan & Kory Kessinger for their donations. Many of you as students, staff, and parents have complimented the homecoming events and the great energy that was present throughout the week and during the pep rally and events. Let’s keep that going every week!
Did You Know?
Did you know the school mascot has not always been the Rams? In the early 1900s the high school in town was called Washington County High School. A few pictures from back in those days have the word “Drylanders” written on the athletic team balls. So, it is believed the school and mascot was the Washington County Drylanders. When the school transitioned to the name Akron the mascot became the Ramblers. A few pieces of memorabilia from back in the day show a “Hobo” type figure as the Rambler, but the majority of school annuals throughout the years show a Ram as the Rambler mascot. In the mid 1960’s the name changed from the Ramblers to the Rams, which is still the school mascot today.
