From the Principal...
Dear MacArthur Family,
Thank you for taking time to sign up for a conference with your scholar's teacher. If you have not had the chance to sign up for our conferences taking place the evening of Wednesday, March 8th, and during the day on Thursday, March 9th, please see more details below. I look forward to seeing you!
This month’s focus is Cooperation. One way to think about Cooperation is “working together to reach shared goals.” As a family, talk about how this definition applies to how you work together at home. What are some goals you share?
Cooperation is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking,
conflict resolution, and leadership.
Here are 2 “PurposeFull Pursuits” for you to complete together.
Pursuit 1:
This week, plan a time when everyone needs to work together to accomplish a shared
goal like cleaning up the space you live in or making a meal together. Make sure
everyone has a role to play with specific tasks. When the project is complete, discuss
and celebrate how each person’s part was important to the end result.
Pursuit 2:
Review Cooperation as a family! Search through your cupboards for some board
games your family has not played in a while, or grab a deck of cards for a simple
game of Go Fish. Pop some popcorn and have fun playing together! Look for
moments of Cooperation that you can point out.
For example:
- Choosing which game to play
- Choosing who gets to go first
- Handling wins and losses
- Working together to solve a problem
Sincerely,
Mr. Gonzalez

Notes from the Office:
Conference Signup: Conference sign up with your child's homeroom teacher can be completed on your Skyward family account, by clicking on "Conferences" on the left-hand side. If you would also like to meet with your child's specials teachers, please see the button below 'Specials Teachers' Conference Information.' If you are the guardian of a 5th grade student, information on how to sign up for conferences came home as these are not scheduled through Skyward.
No School/Office Hours: There is no school this coming Thursday (3/9) and Friday (3/10). The office will be open from 7:00am - 1pm on the 9th, and closed on the 10th. In addition, the office will be open from 4:30pm - 7:30pm on the evening of March 8th.
School Number: Please note that when you receive a phone call from MAC, it does not show up as the number you should call when trying to reach our school. Please make sure you have the correct number when trying to call our front office: 262-253-3468.
Extra Clothes: As winter is still rearing it's head and spring is upon us, we are experiencing wet recesses. When it is especially wet, your child may come inside with wet pants or socks. Please remember to have a set of extra clothes come to school with your child. The health room does not have enough extra clothes for wet days.
After School Hours and Access to the School: After the students are dismissed, please do not go to the Kids' Klub doors to get access into the school. Kids' Klub will not be permitting people to come through Door 2. Unfortunately we cannot have families/students come through after school is over and the items forgotten will need to be retrieved the next school day. It is a safety and liability concern to have individuals in the school unsupervised. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Doctor Notes: As a reminder, each scholar is only allotted 10 excused absences per school year. Any absences past the 10 days are considered unexcused. This includes illness, vacations, personal/appointments. Appointments can be medically excused (which means it does not count towards the 10-day absence allotment) if a doctors note is handed into our office.
4K and 5K Registration: Our 2023-24 school year online registration period for 4K and 5K* students is ongoing. 4K is a half day preschool program, and 5K is a full day kindergarten program.
*Registration is just for new families entering the district. If you currently have a 4K student at MacArthur, you do not need to go through the entire online registration process for them to enter 5K in the 23/24 school year. You will need to "verify" their attendance for 5K during the summer months (an email will be sent via Skyward in July). Please note that proof of residency and immunization documents can be uploaded online, but birth certificates need to come into our office at MacArthur to be verified in person. For more information on GSD's 4K program, please click here.
Open enrollment for NON-RESIDENT students closes on April 28th at 4pm.
More enrollment information and specifics can be found here. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the office.
Summer School: The catalog for our summer school classes and schedule is now available. Registration for classes will begin on March 16th (via Skyward), and the deadline for signing up will be April 14th. More information on our summer school sessions can be found here. Please note the Skyward message that was sent out regarding summer school and the ability to sign up. You need to have access to arena scheduling in order to sign up. Classes fill quickly and if your account is not able to do arena scheduling, you may miss the opportunity to sign up. If you do not see arena scheduling, contact our office.
