September 27th-30th
Almost Fall Break!
After signing up for clubs and organizations, the Johnson Central Youth Service Center is sponsoring a College and Career Fair on Thursday from 9 AM to 1 PM. We will have guests on display from numerous college campuses, local businesses and many other community stakeholders. Each class will have the opportunity to go through the fair and see future college and career possibilities.
This week also brings many athletic opportunities to our campus. One of our teams (soccer, volleyball and football) will be playing at home every night this week. Volleyball will be at home Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Soccer will be playing at home Tuesday and Thursday. Football will be playing home this Friday. Please come out and support all of these students, especially on Thursday. Our boys and girls soccer team will be playing host to Paintsville. This is always a great match-up and wonderful opportunity to come out and support your school.
There is no school on Friday as this is the start to our Fall Break. School will resume on Monday, October 11th.

Teacher Spotlight- Megan Wilson
My name is Megan Wilson. I am an English teacher at Johnson Central High School. The 2021-2022 is officially my first year of teaching and I couldn’t be more excited. I received my
bachelor’s degree in English from Morehead State University and my master’s degree in
teaching, from University of the Cumberlands. I was lucky enough to have been placed at
Johnson Central for my student teaching program under Tish Sturgill. The experience was truly fulfilling and solidified my desire to become a teacher.
Before making the jump to teaching, I spent a little over a decade in banking. Most recently, I
worked at the Mayo Plaza branch of Peoples Bank as a Universal Banker. I enjoyed my career,
however, I felt I wanted to be a part of something more challenging and rewarding. Teaching
has always been a part of my life as I have various family members teaching in different
districts. My grandmother taught for over 30 years, most of those years in the Johnson County school system. Johnson Central was her home and I feel incredibly blessed to be able to call it my home now too. We are almost two months into the school year, and I have found that what most teaching veterans say is true. The relationships built with students inside the classroom is the most important aspect of the job. These kids have been amazing and the connections I have made with them certainly delivered on my wish to find something more rewarding.
Because I am an English teacher, it should come as no shock that I love to read. Whenever I
have a free moment, I try to have a book in my hand. Reading has always been an intrinsic part of my life. I love the swelling of my chest with a happy ending. I love having my heart broken alongside a main character’s anguish. I love getting to immerse myself in other cultures, whether native to this world or completely imagined. My goal is to share this love with my students because I know, firsthand, how enriching it can be. If I am not reading, I am usually traveling to spend time with family and friends who live out of state or taking in a music festival where I can find them.
Student Spotlight- Freshman Class Secretary Madelyn Mcgraw
Hi, I’m Madelyn McGraw, a freshman at Johnson Central High School. I was elected to represent the freshman class as secretary. Some interesting facts about me are, I am a part of The Lead Team at Johnson Central, I'm also a part of the Spirit Club, FCA, HOSA, and I cheer for our school. In addition, some of my hobbies include dance. I dance at Point of Joy and one day I hope to minor in dance in college. Another one of my hobbies is to run in my free time, spend time with family and friends, listen to music or a podcast, and finally watch Friends, one of my favorite shows.
Some of my goals are to become a nurse practitioner, have my business degree and open my own spa. Those were some interesting facts about me and some things I hope to accomplish in the future. I look forward to being the secretary for the freshman class.
