Each year, stakeholders are surveyed in an effort to collect information about our school from varied perspectives. These survey results are used to help compile our CCRPI Climate Star Rating. For the 2018-19 school year, RHHS earned a 4 star rating (out of 5 stars).

Richmond Hill High School Rising 9th Grade Night will be held on February 3rd from 5:00 – 6:30 PM. Administrators will present information about RHHS relevant to 9th grade students including information about academics, behavior expectations, and high school procedures. There will be two identical sessions at the following times:

• 5:00 – 5:30 PM
• 6:00 – 6:30 PM

Additionally, parents and students will have the opportunity to explore the various extracurricular offerings that will be organized throughout the East Campus building. Coaches, club sponsors, and student representatives will be available to answer questions and discuss the many extracurricular options at Richmond Hill High School. We hope to see you there!”

The RHHS Sailing Team recently placed third in the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (SAISA) Regatta!

RHHS Health Occupations Student Association members started preparing for regional qualifying testing in August of this year. These tests are computer-based, and the top forty students in each region in Georgia advance to HOSA State Leadership Competition in March.

There were 6 students who competed in Regionals, and out of the six, four qualified for SLC:

• Lucia Pham placed for Dental terminology
• Jackson Martin placed for Medical Math
• Alyssa Hickey and Amanjot Saini (competed as a team)

Join me in congratulating these students for this accomplishment, and to the Healthcare Science faculty for their work with them. RHHS wishes you the best of luck at State Competitions. Go HOSA!

2020 Washington Youth Tour-Apply TODAY!

Once a year, Coastal Electric Cooperative sends high school students from our service region to represent the co-op on the prestigious Washington Youth Tour. The Washington Youth Tour will take place June 18-25, 2020.

In order to be eligible to obtain a parking permit, students must have 6 or fewer absences and 6 or fewer tardies to school the semester prior to applying for the permit. This is important for students who will want to apply for a parking permit for next school year.

In addition to having good attendance and on-time arrival, students must pass 75% of their classes and be free of the Obligations List.

Parents, SEND YOUR CHILD a Valentine’s Day Chick-fil-A Cookie Gram for $2!

The RHHS Beta Club will be selling Chick-fil-A Cookie Grams for $2 NOW through February 6 to raise money for Make-A-Wish and meet their goal of $10,000 to grant the wish of a child with a critical illness. Support the RHHS Beta Club AND Make-A-Wish by ordering the famous Chick-fil-A chocolate chunk cookie for your child or your child’s teachers or your nieces and nephews or your child’s coaches or ANYONE at RHHS.

You can order by logging into MyPaymentsPlus and entering each recipient’s name and a message. Deadline to order is February 6th. Cookie Grams will be delivered to students and staff on Friday, February 14th. For more information contact: ehturner@bryan.k12.ga.us

Prom is quickly approaching and will be held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center on March 28, 2020.

The final date for a RHHS junior or senior to pay dues and get a prom ticket is Friday, February 28, 2020.

For Students who have PAID their dues:

• Paid dues covers only that student’s ticket.
• A guest ticket for an approved guest will be $50
• Students will pick up the ticket(s) in the east cafeteria during lunch from March 2, 2020 – March 6, 2020.

For Students who have not paid their dues by February 28, 2020 (any dues paid between 1/15 – 2/28/2020 will be given a $5.00 late fee):

• That student can buy a ticket on MPP for $125
• A guest ticket for a student that has not paid their dues is also $125
• Students will pick up the ticket (s) in the east cafeteria during lunch from March 2, 2020 – March 6, 2020.

For any student who is registering a guest that does not attend RHHS:

• Prom guest registration form that was given out in December, must be completed and given to Mr. Harmon before 2/14/2020. This form is also on the school website -> STUDENTS AND PARENTS -> PROM INFORMATION

It is almost time to begin the course registration process for the 2020-2021 school year! All parents should have received an email with detailed information. Here is a brief timeline of remaining events:

January 30 – Registration forms were distributed to RHMS and RHHS students.

Monday, February 3 5:00 – 6:30 PM – Richmond Hill High School will host Rising 9th Grade Night. This will be an opportunity for rising 9th grade students and parents to better understand course options and student experiences at Richmond Hill High School. Club sponsors will be available to provide information about RHHS extracurriculars as well.

Tuesday, February 4 – RHMS registration forms due to middle school teachers.

Thursday, February 6 – RHHS registration forms due to high school teachers.

RHHS student dues continue to be collected for the 2019-20 school year.

Dues will now incur a $5 later fee, since it is after January 15th. Dues must be paid no later than February 28th in order to receive a prom ticket as part of paid student dues. Dues are paid through MyPaymentsPlus.

Registration for second semester AP exams is now under way. Students who have not already signed up and paid for their second semester exams should visit TotalRegistration.net/AP/112525 to complete the first part of the registration process.

Students will also be required to join their teacher’s College Board Online Classroom. AP teachers will share this information with students this week. All payments are due no later than February 28, 2020. Please email Mrs. Tanner (mtanner@bryan.k12.ga.us) if you have any questions about AP exams.

RHHS Beta Club just kicked off their annual membership drive! 9th—11th graders are eligible to apply. All applicants to the Richmond Hill High School Chapter of the National Beta Club must have a semester average of 80 or above in each individual class and an overall cumulative average of 85 or above for all high school classes. Current seniors who graduate in May 2020 are NOT eligible to apply.

Each year, members must:

1. maintain the grade requirements listed above
2. participate in service projects [a minimum of 20 hours per year*, 15 of those hours must be Beta-sponsored, ie. posted on Beta Google Classroom, documented on the Service Log form with adult signatures (*During the induction year, students will need to document and earn 10 service hours prior to the end of the school year.)]
3. attend regular meetings (at least 1 meeting per month)
4. pay annual dues ($35 per year, includes National Beta membership and dues, RHHS Beta Club t-shirt, and annual induction breakfast)

Attention Class of 2020 graduates and parents, due to changes in Remind, senior information will not be shared using the Senior Remind. Please visit the Senior Web Page for senior information.

The Ga. Ports Authority is looking for high school students who will graduate in May 2020, who want to start a career soon after graduation. They have developed the Y.E.S. Program, Youth learning Equipment and Safety, in hopes of finding students who are not on the traditional four-year college/university track. A representative from the program will be speaking at RHHS on January 10th, at 1 pm. If your child is interested in learning more about the program, please have him/her sign up with Mrs. Sack in Room 602 or email jsack@bryan.k12.ga.us.

RHHS has just joined the district-wide Overdrive collection, so we now have access to even more e-books & audiobooks! Students and staff can go to https://soraapp.com/library/resaga, choose Bryan County School District from the drop-down, & login using your school Google Account. Login is the same now for both faculty AND students. Our old Overdrive page is no longer active, so please update your bookmarks to include the new RESA collection!

Tutorial/detention runs from 2:40 – 4:15 every Monday through Thursday. Students who are on the obligations list for owing detention should plan to stay after school to meet their obligation as soon as possible. Students may also come to this program for extra help from content area teachers. On Mondays, students can receive help in math. An English/Language Arts teacher will be available on Tuesdays. On Wednesday, students can have tutoring in science and Thursdays are Social Studies tutoring.

Fee waivers are available for students on free/reduced lunch. Students should talk to their counselor for more information.
