CELEBRATIONS!
Great things are happening at WCS!
Thank you to all who came out to support our 8th graders at Gelato Fiasco this week, and thank you to Gelato Fiasco for their generous donation! The fundraiser was a super success, raising $300 for our students' trip to Washington, D.C. It was nice to see our fellow Wildcats out and about, and to see Mr. Huston and Mrs. Pols as they scooped gelato for a good cause!

LUNCH HEROINES!
This Friday was "Lunch Hero Appreciation Day!" Students and staff made it a point to thank Mrs. Wells and Ms. Small for all of their hard work. We love these two so much and are thankful for their positive energy and creativity. Thank you for making our days delicious!

PTA NEWS
Next week (May 8-12) is Teacher Appreciation Week- and we love to celebrate our whole staff this week! The PTA will be providing treats for our staff throughout the week, but we encourage families and students to also celebrate the amazing people who make up the WCS staff! Here are a few ideas of ways to show some appreciation:
- Handwritten notes or cards
- Bring in favorite treats, beverages, or a gift card for coffee or dinner
- Provide classroom supplies that are always needed- tissues, snacks for the classroom, dry erase markers, or flair pens!
- Attend our Staff Clap-in on Thursday morning (May 11th). We will be gathering at 7:20 AM at the school entrance to clap and cheer for our staff as they enter school for the day. Signs, crazy outfits, and noisemakers are encouraged!
5/13 SPAGHETTI SUPPER
Tickets can be purchased from any WCS 7th-grader, or at the door.

KINDERGARTEN PARENT INFO NIGHT: 5/10
On Wednesday, 5/10 we will be holding an informational presentation for parents of incoming Kindergarten students! This is an opportunity for parents to pick up enrollment paperwork, hear from teachers and administration, tour the classrooms and sign your student up for Kindergarten screening. There will be childcare provided, courtesy of the WCS PTA. If you have a student who will be joining us for Kindergarten next year, please join us at 6:00pm!
DISTRICT III HONORS FESTIVAL
On Friday, April 28th, 2023, students from Woolwich and Bath Middle School joined music teachers Jennifer Joray and Sandra Foreman for the District 3, 7th and 8th grade Honor Festival, held at Cony High School in Augusta. Students from all over District 3 rehearsed throughout the day in chorus and band, and the enriching experience culminated in a performance for parents and guests at 5:00 P.M. in Cony’s auditorium.
Concert Band students had the pleasure of working throughout the day and evening with maestro Christopher White, director of bands at UMaine, Orono, and Choral students had a grand time under the direction of Mrs. Misner, barbershop singing in the group, “The Maine Idea,” among other professional vocal ensembles.
Concert band rehearsed and performed “Host of Freedom” march by Karl King, arranged by Glover, “Air for Band,” by Frank Erickson, and crowd favorite, “Fire Dance,” by Douglas Akey. Chorus performed “Glorificamus Te,” “Wade in the Water,” a tear-jerker, ”Why We Sing,” and their grand finale piece, “Let Me Ride.” Wonderful performances from all!!
Congratulations to these wonderful WCS students who won this opportunity through a rigorous audition process: Ella Slusher on Flute, Mitchell Doak on Trombone, and Ivey Strickland on Soprano Voice. We are all so very proud of you, your work ethic, and especially for your willingness to share your special gifts with all of us!!! We acknowledge that this honor came through hard work and regular practice. Musicianship is 99% hard work and only 1% talent, after all!! It took you all many hours of weekly practice for several years to be able to rehearse all day long and perform at this high level with other deserving participants throughout the state of Maine. You are going great places, my friends!! You truly make the world a better place through your beautiful music!!
