Q: What smells the best at a Thanksgiving dinner?
A: Your nose.
Q: Why do turkeys always go, “gobble, gobble”?
A: Because they never learned good table manners.
Q: Who isn't hungry at Thanksgiving?
A: The turkey because he’s already stuffed.
COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Gratitude allows us to celebrate the present, it decreases negative emotions, builds more resilience and cultivates a higher sense of self worth.
Here are a few gratitude activities for kids that will help make gratitude a daily ritual:
- Take turns at dinner sharing one awesome thing from your day
- At bedtime, say three things you appreciate about each other
- In the car play a game where you says all the things you love (color, food, movie, hobby, school class, sport, song, etc)
- Every Sunday share one nice thing you will do for someone this week
- Have your child write or draw thank you notes to those around them
If you feel your student could benefit from support of our counselor, please contact Mrs. Phelps at ashley.phelps@myeagles.org or 517-592-6632.
Class Lesson
In October Mrs. Phelps visited classrooms to explore with students how to show compassion to others while discussing bullying and diversity. Ask your student to show you their "Compassion Breath" and tell you what compassion means.
Check out below all the orange Little Eagles wore as a way to support Bullying Prevention on Unity Day! Great Job!
