In math, we’ll have a review week on skills we have already taught. We’ll continue with change over time in social studies. Please be sure your child is completing homework weekly, as well as studying sight words and reading take-home books nightly.
Second Grade: Greetings from Second Grade! Next week we will use the question words who, what, when, where, why, and how to ask and answer questions about informational texts. We will review what we have learned so far in math to prepare for the end of the unit test. We will continue to learn about matter and how its properties change state. Continue to study words on the Most Common Words Lists, complete nightly homework assignments, and read for 20 minutes. Our Fall Curriculum Night is scheduled for October 19 from 6 to 7:30 pm. We encourage you to join us because we will be sharing valuable information and strategies you can use to help your child at home.
Resource:
Art: Our awesome little artists have learned that it is National Pizza Month!!! We have learned fun facts, a little history, and discussed our favorite toppings. Students then created their very own pizzas. It has been super fun watching their creativity this week! I also want to say a huge THANK YOU to students and parents that have and still are collecting bottle tops!
Music: The PTA performance videos are posted on Williamston Primary School’s Music Classroom website. It can be accessed by clicking on the link under Wanda Hardison on the WPS Staff Directory.
Thank you, as always, to Mrs. Edwards, for capturing the performance on video! This week, students will sing seasonal songs, learn correct table setting and etiquette, and play musical instruments while reading rhythms.
Library: 1st and 2nd graders have been checking out books this month. They are making sure to take care of their books, and be responsible for bringing them to the library on their resource day, to exchange them for a new one. As students show and practice this, they will be able to checkout more than one book per week!
BOOK FAIR TIME Coming Soon! The last week of October will begin our fall Book Fair! From OCT 30 - NOV 3. As your students are becoming more advanced readers, think about adding to their book collection at home!
