A Note from Dr. Hooks
Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,
Thank you to all of the parents, teachers and staff who attended the monthly Hybrid-Learning Task Force meeting, today. This convening was important, because this group of stakeholders also serve as members of the Reopening Community Corps. The Reopen Community Corps is a diverse group of school-level stakeholders consisting of parents, teachers, school staff, and community members who support and advise the school leader in reviewing models and resulting impacts on the community for possible In-Person Learning and CARE Classrooms, in the future. The Hybrid Learning Task Force, LSAT and SCAC are all represented on this committee.
The Reopen Community Corps will:
- Leverage collaborative planning structures to understand school-specific context for feedback and school planning.
- Commit to baseline expectations to ensure equity of access and opportunity across DCPS, specifically Hyde-Addison ES.
- Maximize the short window of time (November - December) to engage in planning for a future term, before possible implementation may need to occur.
Please complete this Reopen Strong Hyde-Addison ES Community Survey, to share your feedback.
In addition, as part of the DCPS phased reopening plan, Hyde-Addison ES is scheduled to open a 2nd Grade CARE classroom, as early as December 9, 2020, contingent upon safety regulations, staffing and parent interest. Updates will be shared, as applicable.
Be reminded that there will be no school for students, November 25-27, 2020. Please see the November Equity and Anti-Racism Task Force Newsletter, for resources to support discussions during this holiday season.
Please keep you and your loved ones safe. For resources and information about the District of Columbia Government’s coronavirus (COVID-19) response and recovery efforts, please visit coronavirus.dc.gov. Please visit dcpsreopenstrong.com or backtoschool.dc.gov for DCPS virtual learning resources.
