Dear GLOBE families,

Hispanic Heritage Month concluded on Friday with a fantastic celebration at both campuses. Thank you to all the families of Spanish track students who attended. The events at both campuses were a pleasure to watch and everyone had so much fun. Our students and staff all did a wonderful job organizing events throughout Hispanic Heritage Month. We have included a few pictures and a video from the event below, and we will be including a link to an image gallery in next week's newsletter.

On Sunday afternoon, those who attended our International Festival got to experience different cultures, taste food from around the globe with the POTLUCK dishes, watch numerous performances, and play games. A big thank you to the PTTC for sponsoring both events!

On Monday, we begin our celebration of Peace Week with some fun activities planned throughout the week. Fundraising for this year's GLOBE Trot also kicks off! You can read more about our biggest school-led fundraiser of the year in the information below, and on our website.

From October 24–28, GLOBE students and staff will celebrate a week of kindness and unity with a series of activities and a community project. This year's Peace Week theme is Reach Out: Building Community.

During Peace Week, we are participating in Socktober – a donation drive to Reach Out to those in our community less fortunate than ourselves. Socktober is meant to show that any act of giving, no matter how small, can make a huge impact in others' lives. Please send new, unopened packs of socks to GLOBE where they will be collected in homerooms. At the end of Peace Week, all items will be collected and donated to a local shelter, StandUp For Kids: Atlanta. Feel free to donate other items (hats, gloves, etc.) that you see on their wishlist.

We encourage you to ask your child about their day during Peace Week.

Middle School Chorus concert takes place tomorrow

Join the Chorus at 6pm tomorrow, October 20, in the UC auditorium, for their Fall Informance Concert. We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our first performance of the school year.

Debate Club (grades 6–8)

At Debate Club you can learn the skills required to join formal debate meetings and competitions in high school and beyond. Students learn skills that will make them a better lifelong communicator. Meetings are held biweekly in classroom 111, with the next one scheduled for October 26, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Debate Club is open to all middle school students (from 6th to 8th grade). Reading Club on Wednesday afternoons (grades 4–8)

The Upper Campus is proud to be offering the possibility for students to compete in this year's Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl (HRRB). We will be hosting a Reading Club on Wednesday afternoons where students can join, read the books, and practice for the competition. Mr. Cunningham will be working with our 4th and 5th grade students and Ms. Garvin will be working with 6th to 8th grade students. The club will meet after school on Wednesdays. Spirit Night at Chipotle

Come and support GLOBE tonight at Chipotle, 2078 Henderson Mill Rd NE, Atlanta, GA, 30345, from 4pm to 8pm. You can order online for pickup using code LQT7DLZ or you can dine in. Make sure you bring the flyer (or take a pic on your phone) to Chipotle to ensure that PTCC receives the donation from your purchase.

Spirit Wear store closes today!

The spirit wear store is open until 11:59pm today. If you missed the first round, this is your chance to stock up for the holidays and winter months. Items will be shipped in early November.

Join PTCC PACs

We are looking for someone to help with our fundraising and our global awareness PAC (Parent Action Committee). This includes helping to coordinate spirit wear, spirit nights and help with our auction. If you are interested, please send us an email.

On Friday, November 11, GLOBE students will walk, run, and trot their way through GLOBE’s biggest fundraiser of the year: GLOBE Trot.

Next week, fundraising will open, and it will be time to ask family, friends, and neighbors for their support. Our goal is for 100% of GLOBE students to participate in raising money for our wonderful school. Stay tuned for instructions on how to set up your student’s individual fundraising page.

Parents will be welcome to attend GLOBE Trot this year, so get ready to cheer on your students. Keep an eye out for the day’s schedule and important logistics information, coming soon.

Girls basketball try-outs (grades 6–8)

We have two lots of tryouts next week. Boys volleyball on Monday and Tuesday, 3:30pm to 5:30pm, followed by boys basketball on Wednesday and Thursday, 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

All meetings of the Board of Directors are open to the community. You can find the full calendar of board meetings here. In advance of each meeting, the board will publish the meeting agenda and issue a call for public comments, and after each meeting, minutes and a video link to the meeting will be shared. The next meeting will take place at 7pm on Monday, October 24.
