Principal's Message
Pirate Families,
We have had a terrific start to the 2022-2023 school year!
As we enter September, students in Kindergarten to 2nd grade will complete an assessment in literacy and math called mCLASS. This assessment is a diagnostic and progress monitoring tool that helps teachers and families understand specific instructional needs for students at all levels. Additionally, it helps teachers provide individualized instruction for students in small groups as needed. The mCLASS assessment will be administered three times a year, beginning-of-year (BOY), middle-of-year (MOY), and end-of-year (EOY). After each assessment window families will be provided a copy of the family report.
We are so thankful for our families and your presence in your child’s education at Live Oak Learning Center. We appreciate your continued support and grace as we work to provide a successful year for our students. Please know your feedback is invaluable to us as we continuously make adjustments to find the just right fit for our students.
Please do not hesitate to contact us or your child's teacher with any questions.
Proud to be you Principal,
Mrs. Poland

Character Strong--Respect
Dear Family,
We are thankful for you being part of our school community! The world is changing quickly and we want to do everything we can to help students be successful in school and life.
We are excited to tell you that we will be using a program called PurposeFull People this year. This program teaches skills that will help students be successful in school and in life.
We believe that students should have safe, predictable places to learn where they feel included. Students should have healthy and helpful connections with teachers and classmates. They should also experience learning that will help them tackle challenges inside and outside of school. PurposeFullPeople is more than a set of lessons - it is a partnership between schools and families to create a place where students feel like they belong and learn skills that will help them be the best they can be!
Purposefull People has three main goals for students: Be Kind, Be Strong, and Be Well.
● Be Kind: Social skills like listening, friendship, solving conflicts, and leadership.
● Be Strong: Skills that help students focus, stay organized, and set goals.
● Be Well: Skills that help students handle their emotions and deal with stress.
This year, you’ll be invited to join the fun! We will send letters home about the skills and strengths being taught each month. Each letter will include some ways to build these skills at home, discussion starters, and fun challenges you can try with your family.
The path forward is full of growth! We cannot wait to partner with you in this work…
● To teach students how to build strong friendships
● To work together to solve problems, big and small
● To grow skills for life
● To become PurposeFull People With Gratitude
With Gratitude,
Mrs. Poland

Nurse's Corner
Medication at School 2022-2023
Students are not allowed to bring any type of medication to school. If your child needs medicine during the school day, the guardian will need to bring the medicine to the nurse in the correct prescription bottle. If the medicine is short term, under 3 weeks, the guardian must sign a short-term medication form. If the medicine is for long term use, a doctor’s order will be required. This includes any over the counter medicines. The guardian can have the doctor fax the order to Attn: Nurse Cisneroz at (361)790-2207. The campus nurse will not call the doctor to request these orders.
