"In the Know"
End of 1st 9 Week Period at PVES
Believe It or Not
Believe it or not, the end of the first nine week grading period is Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018. By now, you should be connected to your child's SeeSaw account for daily updates and information. Teachers are scheduling parent/teacher conferences through November 9th to share behavior and academic information including MAP and SC-READY test scores. Please view the following information to assist you with the end-of-term information. Thank you for your support!
Important Information
- Report Cards will be sent home on Tuesday, October 30th. 5th grade students who attend the Field Trip will receive their report card on Thursday, November 1st.
- Please view the report card, comments and other information carefully. Sign the white copy and return this to school as soon as possible.
- Please remember Anderson School District One implements a 10-point grading scale (90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 = C, etc.).
- If you have specific questions related to the report card, please contact your child's teacher for clarification.
- It is strongly recommended that parents are signed up for Parent Portal. This provides real time access to grades and attendance information. Stop by the main office with your license to sign up!
How Can I Assist My Child?
After report cards are issued, we typically receive many questions regarding how parents can assist their student so they can be more successful in school. Please see the following suggestions below:
- Make certain you have conferenced with your child's teacher and know what areas to focus on at home.
- Stay connected to the classroom via SeeSaw and Parent Portal.
- Make sure your child has a set routine at home after school that includes a quiet spot to complete homework and study.
- Read to and with your child daily. This may indeed be the most important thing you can do for your child.
- Allow your student to work in DreamBox and Reflex to practice math skills and fluency that are vital for success.
- Consider creating a reward system for your child when he or she completes homework and studies as expected. This builds responsibility and accountability.
- Talk about school with your child. Ask him/her about his/her school day and encourage him/her to succeed and work hard.
