The RC3 team member of the month program is designed to recognize a student from each academy for their outstanding performance. Team members are nominated by their instructional team for exhibiting excellent academic achievement and employability skills. Congratulations to our team members of the month.

Mrs. Lindsay Weeks, Health Science lead teacher, is the RC3 team leader of the month. The RC3 team leader of the month program highlights a deserving RC3 teacher. Recommended by their students, these teachers exhibit excellence in teaching and inspire their students daily. One of her students wrote, "she’s the best teacher I have ever had. Even when she gets frustrated with us she doesn’t get mad. She helps us continuously with anything and everything." Congratulations Mrs. Weeks on a job well done.

I am currently undergoing training in the US Army as a 25U, which is a Signal Support System Specialist. I am continuing to work my way toward my dream career in information technology and ultimately game development.

Hello everyone! I’m Kenzie Boyett and I’m a current freshman at the University of Alabama. I’m a nursing major and currently involved in greek life here on campus. I’m looking at getting more involved with my community and can’t wait to make new friends! One of the best things about my high school experience was attending RC3. Being able to attend such an amazing and resourceful school like RC3 is something each and every one of us should be grateful for because opportunities like this are definitely hard to come by. We are beyond lucky. Whenever I mention RC3 and the Health Science Academy to my fellow peers they’re all amazed that I had such an experience like that available to me in high school. I hear peers all around me stressing about nursing school because of the critique skills, difficult course rigor, and the fast pace of the course. Yes, nursing school is difficult, but because of RC3, I know that I will step foot into nursing school a step ahead of everybody and prepared to expand my knowledge on material already obtained in high school. From the moment I walked into RC3, I knew it would have a meaningful impact on my life. My advice to current students is to stick with RC3 all three years of high school because you won’t regret it. The outcome is 100% worth it. I hope you all have an amazing school year and Roll Tide!

This year's app challenge officially kicks off this week!

The Governor's App Challenge is a statewide computer programming competition for Alabama students grades K-12. The goal of the Challenge is to allow more students to gain recognition for their mastery and application of computer programming and design!

This is a great opportunity for students to showcase the skills

they are learning in class this year!

Culinary students learned about the process of beef production, fabrication, and vaccination this week from Mrs. Josie Jones, a representative from the Alabama Cattleman's Association.

Our Health Science Academy welcomed a group of Respiratory Therapists from UAB and Children's Hospitals. These industry professionals educated our students a little more about the field of respiratory therapy. They were able to give students the opportunity to experience, hands-on, some new technologies used in the medical field today, including video guided intubation. Students had a great time learning about this exciting field!

The week the Hoover Fire & Emergency Services Academy students visited the Hoover 911 Dispatch Center. They have recently been learning about emergency and non-emergency communications involving public safety.

Students had an opportunity to visit with college and military representatives during the annual RC3 college fair. With over 15 institutions represented, this event opens their eyes to the many post-secondary options available to them.

The NACAC National College Fair is this Sunday, October 8th from 1-4 PM at the Hoover Finley Center! This free in-person college fair is a great opportunity to learn more about colleges of interest and to meet admission representatives from all over the country. It is recommended for students to register for the college fair in advance, print the barcode, and bring it to the fair as their electronic ID. Doing this in advance will allow the admission representatives access to student's contact information quickly and leave you more time to connect and ask questions. The Hoover Rec is looking for Lifeguards

• CPR, Lifeguard, and American Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid certifications are not required when applying but must be obtained prior to employment
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, evenings, and weekends

We are happy to announce that applications for the 2024 Aim High Flight Academy (AHFA) are now open! The application window will be open from Sept 1-Oct15. The Aim High Flight Academy (AHFA) is an aviation scholarship for a three-week introductory flight program at various universities across the country. After completion of the AHFA, students will understand the pathways to becoming an Air Force aviator, and will have earned up to 15 flight hours. Below are some frequently asked questions. • Any high school student that will be 16 years old by June 1, 2024 is eligible to apply.
• Where is it located? We have various training locations across the U.S. Once selected, students will list their preferences and be matched to a university.
• The U.S. Air Force funds everything including travel to and from training. Selected students will incur no costs associated with the flight academy.
• NO! This is an introductory program designed to take students from no flight knowledge to 12-15 flight hours.
• Follow the link here. You’ll need to answer some questions about yourself, have a nominator (like a job reference) recommend you, complete a short essay, and complete a creative graphic.
• NO! Our program incurs no military service commitment and is designed for unaffiliated youth to explore aviation.

Aqua Tots is accepting applications for Front Desk and Swim Instructor team members. The facility is right across Hwy 31 from Hoover City Hall and is indoor and climate controlled. They will offer swim lessons year-round and maintain retail hours. The job descriptions and applications can be found here!

If the student will not attend for any reason on a scheduled attendance day, the student is required to email RC3 to inform us of the absence. Please email at: rc3main@hoover.k12.al.us at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled arrival time.

Please be aware that RC3 attendance policy and procedures may differ from your base school.

An HNH Flu Clinic will be held at all Hoover City Schools on October 11th.

You MUST park in your assigned space every day. If you do not have an assigned parking space at RC3, you are NOT allowed to park on the campus.

Driving to RC3 is a privilege, not a right. There are consequences for failing to follow all rules associated with driving to and from RC3. For questions or concerns, please see Officer Thomas.
