It's Great To Connect With You Again!
Hello ÉCKS School Community,
It's great to connect with you again! It's hard to believe, but we are nearing the end of the school year. We have asked our students, our parents and our staff to be flexible all year and we can't thank our school community enough for all the support throughout the year.
The last instructional day for our students is June 28, 2022. Report cards will be issued to students on the afternoon of June 28, 2022. If you wish to pick up your child's report card, they will be available from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm on June 28, 2022. In the event your child is not in attendance that day, we hope to have them mailed out before our staff leave for the summer break.
You can reach out to our staff should you have any questions or inquiries about your child's academic progress. You can find the staff directory here.
School Council Meeting
Tonight at 7:00 pm, we will host a hybrid school council meeting. We will host an in-person meeting in the Staff Room. We will also welcome any parents virtually through Zoom.
Parents and guardians play an important role in student success. School councils allow parents to participate in decisions that impact student learning. By contributing knowledge, perspective, and ideas at school council meetings, parents actively contribute to the success of the school community.
If you are interested in joining virtually through Zoom, please email Pam Boyson, the Chair of our School Council at ecksparentcouncil@gmail.com to request the Zoom link.
Options - Current Grade 6 and 7 students
Mr. MacKenzie will be spending some time speaking to current Grade 6 and 7 students about their option choices for next year. All students will have the opportunity to choose from a selection of options, including Band, Outdoor Education, JAM, Art, Leadership, STEM, French as a Second Language, Fitness, and CTS options at the COMP. For descriptions of our options, please check out our website.
Students will need to make their choices by Monday, June 20th. We ask our parents to take some time over the weekend to discuss this with your child. Students will be able to access the Google Form through their Grade Level Google Classroom.

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY - JUNE 21, 2022
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous peoples.
Although these groups share many similarities, they each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs.
In cooperation with Indigenous organizations, the Government of Canada chose June 21, the summer solstice, for National Aboriginal Day, now known as National Indigenous Peoples Day. For generations, many Indigenous peoples and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or near this day due to the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.
We encourage our students to wear orange on June 21, 2022!
Have a Blast at the ECKS Summer Games Day!
It’s coming! June 27th
Parents, we need your help!
This fun in the sun day of games will be all day long, Kids will be placed on multigrade teams - each team representing a country. Each team will participate in fun group games and challenges, working to earn points and take the Summer Games Title!
Parents, we need you! We are looking for volunteers to run stations. We have 27 different fun stations and opportunities to help serve a hotdog BBQ lunch to the kids.
Imagine yourself (and a friend or two if you’d like) at a station, sitting at your lawn chairs, outside, enjoying a beautiful sunny day and interacting with amazing students! Each team will be led by leadership students so the kids will come to you. Your job would be to explain the activity to the kids and then lead them though it. Each station is worth points and kids will earn a collective score for each event as well as a team spirit score. The leadership student(s) leading the team will run the score sheet to the score table. It will be so much fun!
Here is a list of the different stations:

If you are able to volunteer to help out on this day, please email your child’s homeroom teacher. If you have a preference for running a certain station, please indicate in your email which one you would prefer, along with a phone number we can contact you at if need be. We will try to accommodate all of your requests.
All volunteers will receive an email notification of the station they will be assigned to and will receive a package providing further detail about the station activity and scoring. All equipment for the station will be provided, we just need you!
Events run all morning starting at 9am (set-up at 8:40), and then for an hour after our lunch break. If you are able to help out for only a part of the day, that is great too! Please indicate that in your email to the teacher. You can find the staff directory here.
We hope you will join us and make this a super fun day!
Thank you!
