Prayer for Civility


Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where uncivil words prevail, show me how to model love.

Help me remember the God-given dignity of all and invite others to do the same.

Show me how to build bridges and not walls

and see first what unites us rather than how we diverge.

Let me seek to understand before asking to be understood.

Give me a listening heart filled with empathy and compassion.

May I be clear in sharing my own position

and respectful and civil in describing those of others.

Let me never tolerate hateful ideas.

May I invite all to charity and love.

Lord, help me to imitate your compassion and mercy.

Make me an instrument of your peace.

Amen.

We started this prayer as a new afternoon prayer on Oct. 1 and will continue through the election. There are so many lessons for all of us in here. Sacred Heart is accredited by the state of Kansas, which requires us to have a researched based anti-bullying program. We are excited to include Peace Week as an addition to our plan. Of course, we know that Jesus is the best example of how we are to treat people and that our vision "Preparing our minds for the future and souls for eternity" helps us make better decisions every day!

Open Gate at Prairie Star Ranch

Open Gate Fall Fun at Prairie Star Ranch Take advantage of the beautiful fall weather and join us on Saturday, October 24th, from 10am to 5pm for a casual day of open-air fun. Show off those Halloween costumes and bring along your candy-collecting buckets! You don’t have to miss out on trick-or-treating this year; our contactless scavenger hunt will guide you around property and you may collect candy along the way! Additionally, pack a picnic, enjoy the fall foliage, bring your fishing gear, and more! Trail rides (for riders aged 9 and up) and corral rides (for riders aged 8 and under) will be offered for a small fee. Otherwise, the event is free, and donations are welcome. Peace Week at SHOJ

Parents,

Every October, schools across the country observe National Bullying Prevention Month. The goal of Peace Week is for students, parents, and staff to work together to stop bullying and increase awareness of the prevalence and impact of all forms of bullying on children.


  • Monday - Step Up - crazy socks
  • Tuesday - Thinking Cap - wear a hat
  • Wednesday - SHOJ Spirit shirt (with uniform bottom)
  • Thursday - Promote Peace - Tie Dye (with uniform bottom)
  • Friday - Exercise Kindness - Sport Shirt (with uniform bottom)

Box Tops Changes

Box Tops has gone digital. Please check one last time for the actual coupons around home. The last date we can submit them is Nov. 2. Please just send them to school in a baggie. Next download the app and start submitting pictures of your receipts - it is really easy. So far, Sacred Heart has a little over $100 raised, which we usually get around $1,000 each school year.
