Coffee and Chat -Take aways and Transparancy

The first Virtual Coffee and Chat was great! I so enjoyed speaking with parents and informing them about the challenges around virtual learning and the "opportunities" that teachers are being presented with. Listening to their feedback, most of them are looking for ways to help their child, assistance with a daily schedule, don't know how to access information, or don't even know that there is information out there.

Transparent Moment:: the first one was scary! "Will they ask questions I can't answer?" "Will they say something negative?" "Will they complain about our processes?" "Are they even going to show up?" "Is this a waste of time for already busy parents?"

Guess what? I worried over a whole bunch of nothing. As our time began, I realized that the people that were there, really just wanted to connect. One thing I loved, was that there are some parents who are so informed and behind the West View Staff, that they helped answer some of the questions others were having.

To make a long story short, you have support. There is a small percentage that are going to complain about everything we do. Don't focus on it. Try your best to help them, but don't dwell on the negative. Had I gone into the meeting with my anxiety at the forefront, I would have missed the beauty of seeing the community work together on behalf of teachers and their children.
